Lead Engineer, KATC (Karma Advanced Technology Center) Prototype & Development
The Lead Engineer, KATC (Karma Advanced Technology Center) Prototype & Development is responsible for providing engineering guidance with all activities and work related to Engineering, Integration, Prototyping and Fabrication, primarily supporting the programs from design concept phase through production. This role both manages the engineering needs to prototype and supervises the engineers to help make prototypes.
Responsibilities (include, but are not limited to
- Supervise the Prototype and Development Engineering team and provide engineering guidance to support solutions and instructions to both Vehicle Engineering Technical and Fabrication teams.
- Manage the engineering team to guide the engineering and fabrication of all Advanced Engineering Vehicle Mule Build(s) or Product proof of concept requests.
- Manage the Engineering technician team to help initiate the formulation and incubation of ideas to enable proper prototyping and verification of early preproduction products.
- Lead engineering interfacing and technical communications with engineering module leads prior to vehicle or product launch for prototype and fabrication support.
- Technical liaison with Engineers/Requestors regarding technical aspect of the work requests and support any testing required by Engineering.
- Support the supervision of the entire team’s workmanship and output through quality and efficiency management.
- Support department head with all duties as assigned. This includes but is not limited to filing in technical needs as required per project, assisting with department head’s daily needs.
Required Qualifications:
Education
- Bachelors in Engineering (Mechanical and/or Electrical Preferred)
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of engineering experience
- 3-5 years supervising and/or managing a team in a similar role with like responsibilities.
- Familiar with automotive service, repair, and diagnostics
- Proficient experience with CAD (CATIA, SolidWorks, and/or Fusion 360)
- Proficient with desktop software (including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
- Proficient with manufacturing instructions, electrical diagrams, and mechanical drawings
- Ability to diagnose with OBD II diagnostics systems and data acquisition tools.

Compensation:
$125,000 - 145,000 /annual salary. Compensation will vary DOE.
At Karma, our base pay is one part of our total rewards package.
Compensation offered may vary on multiple factors, including market location, education, skills and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position being offered.
