Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and dependable Heavy Equipment & Diesel Mechanic to join our team. This role involves working on company trucks and a variety of heavy equipment including tracked excavator, front-end loaders, feller bunchers, skid steers, and excavators. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical and diagnostic skills, have experience with diesel engine systems, and demonstrate a high level of physical stamina and attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform maintenance and repairs on company trucks (heavy-duty), including brakes, tires, drums, and internal engine work.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on heavy equipment.
- Conduct welding and fabrication tasks as needed for equipment repair.
- Utilize hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
- Operate heavy equipment for testing and transport purposes.
- Travel up to 70 miles to retrieve equipment and operate service trucks as required.
- Ensure work is completed in compliance with safety standards and company procedures.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs, services, and parts used.
- Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and occasionally customers.
- Manage time efficiently to meet repair deadlines and reduce downtime.
Qualifications:
- Experienced as a diesel mechanic and/or heavy equipment mechanic.
- Strong knowledge of diesel engine systems and mechanical components.
- Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical problems.
- Proficient in welding and fabrication techniques.
- Capable of lifting up to 100 lbs. and working in physically demanding environments.
- Valid driver’s license; CDL preferred or willingness to obtain.
- Strong time management, communication, and customer service skills.
- Commitment to safety and attention to detail in all tasks.
Preferred Skills:
- Technical training or certification in diesel mechanics or heavy equipment repair.
- Familiarity with service software and diagnostic tools.
