The County of San Mateo - San Mateo Medical Center is seeking experienced Custodians/Housekeepers to perform custodial and housekeeping duties. The current vacancies are Extra Help, Part-Time positions.
Under general supervision, custodians perform a full range of custodial duties, including cleaning, maintaining, and securing assigned areas in and around County buildings, offices, hospitals, institutions, and other facilities. Additional duties may be assigned as needed.
The ideal candidate will have at least two years of hands-on experience performing the duties listed below in a government facility, hospital, locked facility, or similar environment. Experience in cleaning and disinfecting patient care areas—including patient rooms, nursing stations, and bathrooms—is preferred but not required. Additionally, the ideal candidate will preferably have experience safely and efficiently removing and replacing cubicle or privacy curtains from cubicle tracks or ceiling systems, following established protocols, which may include using a ladder. The ability to operate a golf cart to transport cleaning equipment on public roads is also preferred.
NOTE: This is an extra-help, at-will assignment, paid on an hourly basis. Extra-help hours are dependent on the business needs of the department and therefore work hours may vary from week to week. Extra help employees shall not exceed 1,040 hours of work per fiscal year. Some extra help positions are eligible for benefits under the Affordable Care Act. Extra help employees are not guaranteed permanent status at the end of the assignment.
