The Amazon Logistics (AMZL) Last Mile program is seeking a Program Manager (Risk and Compliance) to join our DSP Compliance team in a role vital to maintaining and enhancing compliance across our delivery network. This position involves comprehensive management of compliance programs and risk control mechanisms, while building and maintaining strong relationships with delivery partners to ensure adherence to standards. The role also focuses on supporting internal teams in maintaining high compliance standards and identifying and managing potential risks in delivery operations.

As a Program Manager (Risk and Compliance), you will leverage data analytics to identify areas for improvement in compliance programs and risk controls, while collaborating with various teams to implement enhanced compliance mechanisms and processes. The position requires skilled project management involving multiple teams and stakeholders, along with the creation and delivery of clear communications and training materials about compliance requirements. Additionally, you will actively participate in sharing and learning best practices with regional and global teams. Your contributions will be instrumental in ensuring we maintain high compliance standards while effectively managing risks throughout our delivery operations.

Key job responsibilities

Program Strategy & Execution:

  • Manage end-to-end program launch and execution of frontline compliance mechanisms, utilizing appropriate project management methodologies
  • Analyze compliance metrics and operational data using Analytics tools to identify improvement opportunities and propose solutions
  • Envision program roadmaps, including milestone planning and risk management for improvement or critical workstreams
  • Support quarterly/monthly business review and track program KPIs
  • Conduct deep-dive investigations into compliance issue and implement continuous improvement initiatives through systematic review cycles

Stakeholder Management & Communication:

  • Build and maintain strong partnerships with cross-functional stakeholders within Japan (Operations, Tech, Legal, Analytics, and Business teams)
  • Present program updates and proposals to APAC and WW leadership
  • Prepare communication and change management strategies for compliance-related initiatives
  • Collaborate with global teams to implement best practices and ensure consistent compliance standards globally
  • Manage escalations from partners and internal team, ensuring appropriate visibility and timely resolution

Operational Excellence:

  • Implement and maintain monitoring systems for control effectiveness
  • Drive process improvements that balance compliance requirements with operational efficiency
  • Manage DSP compliance processes, including Corrective Action Plans (CAP) and Breach of Contract (BOC) cases
  • Support risk assessment and mitigation strategies within defined scope
  • Must maintain awareness of relevant industry trends, upcoming regulatory changes, and socially significant developments

Cross-Program Leadership:

  • Partner with other business units (HubDP, AMXL, etc.) to implement cross-program initiatives
  • Identify and adapt global best practices for effective local implementation while ensuring regional relevance
  • Collaborate with regional teams to share successful local strategies and implementation outcomes
  • Serve as a mentor to team members, providing guidance and supporting professional development
  • Develop and deliver comprehensive training programs for both internal staff and external partners, including implementation of metrics to measure program effectiveness and ROI

You do NOT need a background in Logistics. You DO need the logical, rational thinking, skills to control complex projects with high judgement decisions, clear communication style, stakeholders management and ability to make recommendation required to convince a business partner and leadership that the strategy and action YOU are recommending is the right one. We recognize that the experience required for this role likely doesn't exist within traditional logistic companies, and we therefore welcome forward-thinking program managers, project managers and product managers from a wide variety of experiences and backgrounds to consider this role.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3+ years of program or project management experience
  • 3+ years of working cross functionally with tech and non-tech teams experience
  • 3+ years of defining and implementing process improvement initiatives using data and metrics experience
  • Knowledge of Excel (Pivot Tables, VLookUps) at an advanced level and SQL
  • Experience defining program requirements and using data and metrics to determine improvements
  • Speak, write, and read fluently in Japanese
  • Bachelor's degree

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in compliance or risk management within operations, transportation, or logistics industry
  • Experience in developing and implementing control mechanisms or process improvements
  • Experience with Analytics tools and data visualization (e.g., QuickSight, Tableau)
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas: Policy/procedure development, Regulatory compliance, Risk assessment and controls, Audit processes, Contractor/vendor management
