A Master Machinist - R&D is responsible for researching, planning, and implementing new fixtures, tools, and equipment within the company. Oversees and monitors the entire process of creating or improving new models, from the initial planning phase to production. The primary responsibility is to stay updated on industry trends and innovations to meet production expectations and remain competitive in the market. Collaborates with other departments, including the machine shop and production teams, to define new product goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Read blueprints and drawings and take or read measurements to plan layout and procedures.
  • Develop strategic and create Tools & Fixtures.
  • Research & Development.
  • Responsible for maintenance to all the Tools & Fixtures.
  • Keep all the records of all the Tools & Fixtures.
  • Lead key projects to support business goals.
  • Determine and execute improved technologies used by suppliers, competitors, and customers.
  • Transfer new technologies, products, and manufacturing processes in the company.
  • Research, design and evaluate materials, assemblies, processes, and equipment.
  • Suggest training tools to enhance employee performance and skill development.
  • Document all phases of research and development.
  • Lead by Example.
  • Training and welcoming of new employees and continued training and support of the department.

Essential skills:

  • +15 years of experience in the industry.
  • Knowledge to create a blueprint and read it.
  • CNC Medium skilled.
  • Manual Lathe / Mill High skilled.
  • Advanced usage measuring tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Proven experience in a relevant role.
  • A strong sense of creativity aids in the process of thinking of new product ideas and solving problems creatively (problem-solving skills).
  • Ability to pay attention to details.
  • The ability to communicate well with colleagues, and lower-level staff.
  • Ability to multitask efficiently and good at managing time.
