About the Role

The Assistant Director of Operations – Rooms, is responsible for overseeing and directing Front Office, Valet, Guest Services, Concierge, Housekeeping, the Marina, as well as assisting with oversight of the Food & Beverage Division. This role is integral to driving guest satisfaction, operational efficiency, and financial performance. This position requires strong business acumen, exceptional problem-solving abilities, and the capability to manage both people and processes. The Assistant Director of Operations – Rooms plays a pivotal role in mentoring department heads, upholding brand quality standards, and aligning daily operations with long-term organizational goals.

  • Responsible for short and long term planning and the management of the Rooms operation
  • Develop and recommend the budget, marketing plans and objectives and manages within those approved plans
  • Direct and oversee development of employees
  • Hire, train, empower, coach and counsel, performance and salary reviews
  • Cover and support in Front Office and Housekeeping Operations as needed
  • Perform daily room inspections to ensure quality and standards are met
  • Send pre/post arrival guest communications
  • Drive Hotel Metrics and Financial targets
  • Direct the implementation of the payroll, reports, forecasts, inventory and budget for food and beverage/rooms operations
  • Resolve customer complaints as appropriate to maintain a high level of customer satisfaction and quality
  • Implement procedures to increase guest and associate satisfaction
  • Resolve customer complaints and anticipate potential problems to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Exercise quality control for both Rooms and food and beverage
  • Maintaining Hyatt standards of service and ensure their implementation
  • Performing daily walk-through to ensure full compliance with Department of Health regulations and Hyatt Corporate standards
  • Maintain communications with Corporate Staff
  • Coach and counsel employees to reflect Hyatt service standards and procedures

The salary range for this position is $83,600.00 - $104,500.00. This is the pay range Hyatt Regency Mission Bay Spa & Marina reasonably expects to pay. Individual salaries will be based on experience and education.

Qualifications

  • 4 years or more of progressive hotel Rooms Management experience
  • Proven leadership across multiple departments, with a track record of enhancing service quality and operational efficiency
  • Strategic thinker with strong execution skills and a hands-on, practical approach to hotel operations
  • Deep commitment to guest experience, consistently delivering on Hyatt’s brand promise through guest-centric decision-making
  • Passion for talent development, with the ability to coach, inspire, and engage teams at all levels
  • Extensive knowledge of hotel systems, financial controls, guest experience programs, marketing, and revenue management
