Intelligence Engineering is the data and AI backbone for all RBI brands. We ingest billions of transactions, scale Snowflake and AWS platforms, and deliver advanced analytics and GenAI solutions that unlock value for franchisees, restaurant teams and corporate stakeholders. The Senior Director of Engineering, leads a team of engineers, engineering managers, product managers, and support professionals to build a strong, clean, and cost-effective data product for all of RBI.

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Own the Intelligence Leads charter and weekly forum – set agendas, publish decisions and track action items that span platform, product and compliance domains.
  • Align quarterly roadmaps and OKRs across Snowflake cost optimization, AWS cost split, real-time streaming POCs, GenAI/RAG/MCP initiatives and data-governance programs (DSAR, retention automation, etc.).
  • Drive vendor and contract strategy (e.g., Informatica, AWS Glue, Keboola, Sigma) and partner with finance on budget vs. forecast tracking
  • Lead migration off legacy Redshift/Informatica to Snowflake-centric, streaming-friendly architecture.
  • Enforce governance, retention automation and PII anonymization standards
  • Champion engineering excellence – enforce change-management and on-call standards, expand playbooks, and institutionalize RCA reviews.
  • Define vision, principles and ethical guardrails for Generative AI, predictive modeling and MLOps.
  • Prioritize and deliver flagship AI products (RAG chatbots, fraud detection, demand forecasting).
  • Champion data-centric AI practices: feature stores, automated data quality, synthetic-data generation.
  • Hire, coach and retain top-tier talent across data engineering, ML, product and ops.
  • Optimize team structure (pods, guilds) for focus and autonomy; maintain healthy on-call rotations.
  • Lead cross-team program delivery for high-impact efforts such as Snowflake Kinesis NRT streaming, MCP server auth redesign, and franchisee-facing analytics.
  • Manage talent pipeline – coordinate hiring plans (FTE & contractors), onboarding and career development for Leads’ direct reports and interns.
  • Report out to senior leadership on KPI dashboards covering velocity, reliability, spend, and business impact

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Data Engineering, AI/ML or related field.
  • 12+ years building large-scale data/analytics platforms; 7+ years leading multi-team organizations; proven management of 20-30 people including contractors.
  • Technical Mastery
  • Demonstrated success shipping production ML/AI systems (e.g., LLM fine-tuning, RAG, forecasting, anomaly detection).
  • Expertise with Snowflake, AWS (Kinesis, Bedrock, SageMaker), Kafka, dbt, Airflow and MLOps tooling (MLflow, SageMaker Pipelines).
  • Deep understanding of data-governance frameworks (GDPR/DSAR, SOX) and privacy-by-design patterns
  • Track record of cloud cost optimization and FinOps.

  • Ability to set bold vision, inspire diverse teams and influence VP/SVP-level stakeholders.
  • Exceptional communication—equally comfortable white-boarding architectures and pitching AI ROI to executives.
  • Passion for mentoring, diversity and cultivating a feedback-rich culture.
  • Nice to Have
  • Hands-on experience with Snowflake Cortex, vector databases or LangChain-style orchestration.
  • Experience in quick-service restaurant, retail or franchise systems.
