Machinist 3

Machinist 3 will be responsible for advanced machine setup, programming support, process optimization, and mentoring junior machinists. This team member brings a strong technical background, a commitment to quality, and a proactive approach to continuous improvement in a high-mix, high-precision manufacturing environment.

Status: Hourly Non-Exempt Position Type: Full-time (Occasional Overtime Required)

Hours: 40 hrs Schedule: M-F

Reports to: KeyLink Production Manager

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead complex setups and changeovers on Citizen Swiss CNC machines (e.g., L-Series, M-Series, A32, etc.)
  • Edit and troubleshoot G-code programs to ensure optimal machine performance and part quality
  • Develop and document setup sheets, tooling requirements, and best practices for repeatability
  • Optimize cutting parameters and cycle times to maximize efficiency without compromising quality
  • Work closely with engineering and programming teams to launch new products and improve existing processes
  • Conduct first-article inspections and validate new setups against drawings and specifications
  • Train, mentor, and provide technical guidance to Machinist I and II team members
  • Collaborate with Quality and Production teams to resolve machining or quality-related issues
  • Ensure machines are properly maintained and recommend tooling or equipment upgrades as needed
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment and ensure adherence to safety standards

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical certificate or associate degree preferred
  • Minimum 5–7 years of hands-on experience with Citizen Swiss-style CNC lathes
  • Strong proficiency in blueprint reading, GD&T, and advanced inspection techniques
  • Solid understanding of G-code programming and CNC controls (Fanuc)
  • Proven track record of successful process improvements, setup reduction, and troubleshooting
  • Experience in a regulated manufacturing environment (medical, aerospace, automotive) is highly desirable
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced shop
  • Strong communication and leadership skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with CAD/CAM software (e.g., Esprit)
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing, 5S, or Six Sigma principles
  • Prior supervisory or team lead experience is a plus
  • Machine Safety Training (Machine Guarding Principals, OSHA 10Hr)
