Job Description
The Memorial Computed Tomography (CT) Technologist is responsible for performing diagnostic and medical imaging and related procedures to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients.
Responsibilities
- Provides direct patient care and evaluates outcomes
- Prepares patient to best demonstrate an anatomical area of interest, respecting the patient's ability and comfort
- Properly determines exposure techniques and factors
- Maximizes productivity and efficiency within national benchmarks
- Performs CT imaging using appropriate protocols established by the medical director
- Maintains quality control and quality assurance
- Corroborates and documents patient's clinical history with procedure
- Applies principles of radiation protection, when appropriate to minimize exposure to the patient, self, and others
- Maintains archival storage of digitized data, as appropriate
- Maintains all equipment in proper working order and reports any malfunction
- Evaluates images for technical quality and assures proper patient identification and positioning; ensures all required documentation is recorded
- Communicates patient/family health care needs to the appropriate health care provider
- Provides accurate and timely documentation in patient care records per policy and standard procedures
- Communicates variances and/or significant events to appropriate healthcare provider according to guidelines
- Participates in team conferences and/or care coordination activities
Qualifications
Education:
- Vocational/Technical Diploma
- Graduate of a radiographic program accredited by the Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation (CAHEA)
Experience:
- 1
- Performing the role of computed tomography
Skills:
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a customer service approach
