Who We Are:

Mental Health Support Services (MHSS) is the provider of mental health, developmental disabilities, and substance use disorder services for children and adults in Chesterfield County. We are seeking a MHSS Services Manager to plan, direct, and provide administrative supervision for the Day Support Program. Our Day Support Program provides services at a community day program center to include skills training, supervision, and leisure/recreational activities to individuals with developmental disabilities. Minimum Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, rehabilitation counseling, nursing, IT or a related field (master's degree preferred); five years of increasingly responsible experience in the provision of mental health services to include three years of supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Experience with an electronic health record (EHR) preferred; at least five years of supervisory experience including managing a team of multiple positions and responsibilities preferred; experience with Medicaid Waiver processes preferred; experience working in a day support/community setting with individuals with development disabilities preferred.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Considerable knowledge of theories, principles and practices of community behavioral, prevention and ID programming; of principles and techniques of prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of persons with behavioral disorders; of relevant mental health laws; or IT technology used in these field. Ability to plan, organize and direct a comprehensive program of mental health services; to interpret and apply county, state and federal regulations, policies and guidelines related to the assigned program; to analyze and interpret program data; to communicate effectively orally and in writing; to operate a personal computer and related software and other standard office equipment; to develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers; to supervise staff. Knowledge of assessment and application of individual service plans (ISP) development and outcome writing preferred; ability to manage the program's budget preferred; demonstrated ability to make strategic decisions preferred.

Additional Requirements:

Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check and education/degree verification required.

This position is considered Safety Sensitive and is subject to random drug and alcohol testing.

Duties

Duties include but are not limited to the following:

  • Leads, supervises, trains, and evaluates the work of supervisory, professional, and other program staff;
  • Oversees compliance with federal and state regulations, accreditation standards, and department policies and procedures;
  • Leads planning, implementation and on-going evaluation of the quality and effectiveness of services; ensures continuous quality improvement efforts;
  • Prepares, monitors, and oversees the program's budget;
  • Develops professional relationships with community support networks, public and private provider agencies, and individual /parent organizations;
  • Stays abreast of applicable regulations and recommends new and innovative services and improvements; and
  • Performs other work as required.

Monday - Friday; 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
