Job Description:

Job Purpose

Overall responsible for planning, execution, monitoring and control of modernization initiatives/projects for the distribution management platform, with keen situational awareness and adaptability, seamlessly adjusting strategies in a dynamic work environment.

Major Accountabilities

Delivery Management

  • Leads the project teams in analyzing the business needs and assessing potential solutions, preparing and confirming the project scope, cost, schedule, risks, determining appropriate governance structure and project methodology, building the project team, and obtaining approval of the project stakeholders
  • Proactively seeks direction and support from the steering committee to approve change, resolve issues, address risks, or take corrective actions, when necessary
  • Provides timely and accurate status reports to the team, platform owner, project sponsor, steering committee, PMO, and other members of management
  • Effectively monitors both actual and forecasted effort and costs against the budget and plan
  • Orchestrates proper capacity planning to ensure efficient resource utilization
  • Ensures Program of Work is updated in a timely manner
  • Enables planning and execution, including requirements definition, design, development, testing, implementation and warranty support, working closely with Scrum Masters, Business Systems Analysts, Designers/Architects, Developers, Testers, Infrastructure/Tools/Service Analysts, and Interfacing Application Resources
  • Ensures that all project components are delivered on time, on budget, based on agreed scope, and with quality
  • Identifies, analyzes and prioritizes project risks and impact of risks to the project
  • Complies with organizational project process and documentation requirements
  • Ensures that appropriate and effective escalation processes are defined and executed
  • Serves as escalation point for Scrum Masters, SMEs, Tech and QE Leads
  • Reviews with the project team, opportunities for improvement on future releases
  • Vendor contracting and management

Resource Management

  • Acquires, develops, manages, and mentors resources within the team
  • Ensures development and training needs of resources are understood and documented, and appropriate trainings are scheduled and tracked
  • Ensures that resource assignments are in line with career development and individual aspirations
  • Conducts performance evaluations for team members and manage high and low performers appropriately
  • Cascades all policies and procedures, strategies, information and other concerns to resources
  • Ensures resource productivity, utilization and general performance

Education and Experience

  • College/University Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or Management
  • 10+ years of experience in IT, with at least 5 years as IT Project or Delivery Manager
  • Must have business systems analysis or developer background
  • Experience in Insurance, Banking, Finance or Distribution Applications
  • Significant experience in agile framework, managing team of teams, but still learned in waterfall methodology
  • Knowledge and/or experience with SAFe framework
  • Experience with vendor engagements such as managed services, managed capacity or staff augmentation
