Blending Operator - 2nd Shift/HV

Blender Operators are responsible for the set up and operation of equipment which blends/mixes/packages/transports dry or liquid materials that comprise of our customer products. They ensure the highest quality product at the lowest possible costs while meeting customer specifications and delivery requirements in accordance with RTP Company’s policies and procedures.

Work Schedule:

2nd shift. The hours are 3-11pm Monday through Friday with overtime as required including weekend work. Employees are assigned to a rotating A or B shift. NOTE: Training will take place on the 1st shift for 2 weeks prior to transferring; the hours are 7am to 3pm M-F except for days 1-2 and will start at 8am.

Responsibilities

  • Sets up, start, and runs all machinery, checking all controls for adherence to operating/safety procedures and ISO 9001:2015; IATF 16949:2016 quality standards.
  • Weigh ingredients to meet specifications and inserts into machinery, or ensures the correct ingredients are delivered to the work area and inserts pre-blended materials into machinery.
  • Monitor production and equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation. Troubleshoots equipment and processing issues.
  • Operates machinery to mix, extrude/discharge or handle materials according to operating procedures ensuring strands of material are continuous.
  • Examines material visually or physically to ensure conformance with established standards.
  • May take samples of materials to the lab for evaluation and instructions on any batch adjustments if needed.
  • Packages the finished pelletized materials in containers and/or bags.
  • Refers issues/problems to Production Supervisor for disposition.
  • Performs all required machine cleaning.
  • Completes and maintains all required system inputs/transactions. Responsible for data integrity.
  • Document work completed as required including logs, data reports, procedures, etc.
  • Participates in training, retraining and continual improvement processes and methods.
  • Follows and complies with all safety and work rules and regulations. Maintains departmental housekeeping standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • Good basic math skills
  • Highschool education or equivalent preferred
  • Ability to safety and efficiently operate a forklift

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

  • Regularly required to stand for lengthy periods of time as well as walk, bend, squat, kneel and stoop.
  • Wear protective clothing- as pertaining to job: eye/face protection, hearing protection, toe protection, hard hats, gloves, respiratory protection, and/or protective clothing.
  • Ability to lift up to 55lbs. Safely lift, move, stack, or load up to 50 pounds for most of assigned shift.
  • Properly handle material including potentially hazardous material, as trained.
  • Frequent bending, kneeling, crawling, and reaching are required to perform work under, over, and around structures/machinery. Must be able to transport products, tools, and/or equipment from point to point.
  • Ability to climb or ascend heights multiple times per shift on the following: Stairs: 50'/24 Straight ladders: 80"/4 Step Ladders: 16"/4
  • Safely climb and work atop railcars if needed
