PROGRAM COORDINATOR II

The University of Alabama seeks a Program Coordinator II (1.0 FTE) to support education and technical assistance programs for the Southeast HIV/STI Prevention Training Center. The Program Coordinator II is responsible for coordinating educational activities, clinical consultation and technical assistance to healthcare professionals and healthcare organizations to integrate state-of-the-science in comprehensive care for STI and HIV prevention. The Program Coordinator will report to the Program Director II for the Southeast HIV/STI Prevention Training Center.

The Southeast Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI)/ Human Immunodeficiency virus (HIV) Prevention and Training Center (PTC) is a regional collaboration between a group of nationally respected experts in STI training and research. The center is comprised of faculty and staff from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), Wake Forest University School of Medicine/Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist, the Jefferson County Department of Health (JCDH) and the Guilford County Department of Health and Human Services (GC DHHS). Utilizing faculty from each collaborating institution, it provides regional STI/HIV prevention training for the Southern region of the United States.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

  • Coordinate learning events for the Southeast PTC in various formats for diverse healthcare audiences
  • Collaborate with faculty educators to train healthcare providers in STI screening, diagnosis, treatment, and related topics
  • Attend and actively participate in virtual meetings, calls, and in-person events with the Southeast PTC, NNPTC, and other partners
  • Complete and submit continuing medical education (CME) applications
  • Coordinate online event registration and evaluation processes
  • Create outreach and promotional materials for learning events
  • Assist in producing annual progress reports, budgets, and budget justifications for funding agencies
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, yearly, and ad hoc reports as required
  • Collect participant information and evaluations from learning events and manage data entry
  • Coordinate the STD Clinical Consultation Network and provide conference support
  • Occasionally attend conferences as needed
  • Execute established program objectives and directives while following set guidelines or protocols
  • Determine the most effective approach to accomplish assignments
  • Participate in program planning and help set program objectives
  • Supervise support staff as needed
  • Serve as a communication liaison and special events planner
  • Interface with external resources such as volunteers, alumni, patients, professionals, or continuing education students
  • Ensure adherence to program budgets and perform related fiscal duties
  • Assist with grant and contract preparation and submission
  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, including Excel
  • Proficiency with or ability to quickly learn systems or computer applications
  • Experience or interest in sexual health, STIs, HIV, and improving health equity
  • Event coordination experience preferred

Hourly Range: $18.35-$29.80

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field and one (1) year of related experience required.
  • Or AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE.
