The Operations Supervisor is primarily responsible for supervising a high performing team responsible for handling product safely, efficiently and effectively as it moves through the Distribution Center. This role monitors production volume and assigns or reassigns Team Members to tasks involving receiving and put-away, picking (order-fill), shipping product, or other supporting tasks. The individual in this role must respond quickly to changing workflow conditions and contribute positively to the success of the Distribution Center. The Operations Supervisor resolves issues, addresses safety concerns, and is responsible for communicating business objectives and daily workload plans to the team.

Job duties:

  • Assign work, set completion dates, review work, and manage performance in accordance with organizational policies, procedures, and performance management processes.
  • Establish an environment of teamwork, Team Member involvement/empowerment, fairness, and consistency.
  • Conducts regular meetings to ensure that Team Members are well informed of policies and procedures.
  • Support the safety programs to ensure compliance with policies and regulatory requirements. Maintain a safe working environment for all Team Members.
  • Conduct performance reviews, coach and train direct Team Members.
  • Monitor and ensure that all facility equipment is working properly and meeting production standards.
  • Review productivity and quality reports to ensure department is meeting pre-established targets and take necessary steps when targets are not being met.
  • Recommend measures to improve production methods, working conditions, and increased efficiencies.
  • Support staffing by conducting candidate interviews and training as necessary.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • 1-3 years operations experience in a lead/supervisor/management role, required
  • 1-2 years logistics industry experience preferred.
  • Staff management, workload planning, objective setting and organizational skills, required.
  • Excellent communication skills required.

Physical Requirements:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member is continuously required to stand; walk; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms. The Team Member is frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch; and raise hands/arms above shoulder level. The Team Member is occasionally required to sit and climb or balance. The Team Member must continuously lift and/or move up to 20 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. In the cases of oversized or heavier loads, follow two-person (or more) lift procedures. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
