The Microsoft 365 Systems Engineer will play a critical role in designing, implementing, managing, and optimizing Microsoft 365 services to support Welltower’s digital workplace strategy. This individual will ensure the stability, security, and scalability of the Microsoft 365 environment while providing technical expertise and guidance to users and cross-functional teams.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Architect and deploy Microsoft 365 solutions, including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, OneDrive, and other associated applications.
- Lead the migration and integration of systems to the Microsoft 365 platform.
- Manage and maintain the Microsoft 365 environment, ensuring high availability and performance.
- Provide Tier 2/3 support for troubleshooting and resolving complex technical issues.
- Create and manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls.
- Configure and manage security features, including data loss prevention (DLP), conditional access, and multi-factor authentication (MFA).
- Ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor and mitigate security risks within the Microsoft 365 environment.
- Identify opportunities for automation and efficiency improvements using Power Automate, scripting, or other tools.
- Implement best practices to optimize performance and cost-efficiency.
- Partner with IT teams and business units to align Microsoft 365 solutions with organizational goals.
- Develop and deliver training materials to enhance user adoption and proficiency.
- Utilize monitoring tools to track system performance, usage trends, and potential issues.
- Prepare detailed reports on system health, security, and usage metrics.

TRAVEL
Some out-of-area and overnight travel will be expected.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 7+ years of hands-on experience managing Microsoft 365 solutions.
- Proven experience with PowerShell scripting for automation and management tasks.
- Deep knowledge of Microsoft 365 platform components and administration.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Security and Compliance features.
- Experience with Azure AD, Microsoft Endpoint Manager, and integration with third-party applications.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating with stakeholders at all levels.
- Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects effectively.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Significant experience in a managed services environment.
- Microsoft certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator, Microsoft 365 Certified: Enterprise Administrator Expert, or similar.
- Experience in hybrid environments with on-premises Active Directory.
- Knowledge of cloud infrastructure technologies (e.g., Azure, AWS).
