Physical Therapist:
JOB SUMMARY:
Provides direct physical therapy services to patients of all ages according to standards of practice of profession regulatory agencies, and institution. Supervises subordinate staff members in delivery of care and collaborates with interdisciplinary team to ensure maximum level of care to patients.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provides and supervises direct physical therapy care to in and outpatients of all ages according to professional, regulatory, and institutional standards which includes evaluating patients, setting goals and then developing, implementing reviewing and revising a treatment program to achieve these goals.
- Provides patients and families education with home programs achieving goals, treatment program, prevention, equipment usage in verbal, demonstration, and written form and documents these activities and patient’s understanding. Special attention will be given relevant to patients age or impairments of mentation, vision, hearing, or mobility, etc. when providing any physical therapy service.
- Completes necessary documentation to record patient’s evaluation, goals, program, progress towards goals, discharge summary as well as reports necessary information to physicians, other referral sources, third party payers, lawyers, school systems, etc. Completes daily charges, billing information, as necessary to be reimbursed correctly. Contacts reimbursement source, i.e., insurance company to ensure coverage of services and completes required forms for payment. Maintain knowledge of codes, reimbursement issues current, corporate compliance issues.
- Collaborates with interdisciplinary team, including physicians, nurses, social services, OT/ST, teachers, discharge planners and others to integrate physical therapy into patients’ total health program.
- Supervises support staff by training, organizing patient flow, and delegating appropriate patient care tasks and operational activities to technicians, PT Assistants, aids, students, clerical staff and volunteers. Supervises implementation of these tasks, identifies unacceptable performance and corrects it as appropriate. Evaluates and ensures competency of staff on appropriate forms as requested by Manager/Director.
- Determines need for special patient equipment, supplies, orthonics, and assistive devices. Selects these using catalogs and an equipment vendor. Measures, orders, fits, and educates in using, following proper reimbursement guidelines and forms as appropriate.
- Assists in overall operation of P.T. service by assisting in suggesting equipment purchases, participating in organizational improvement activities, programs, policy development, implementing proper safety/infection control policies and practices. Identifying and recommending changes needed to meet patient and staff needs, safety or to increase efficiency.
- Performs other duties as assigned such as budget/productivity reports/form development, serving on committees or administrative projects.
- Adheres to dress code.
- Functions as a preceptor to orient new employees.
- Meets all departmental specific competencies.
- Adheres to medical center policies addressing infection control, safety, and personnel guidelines.
- Demonstrates knowledge of and compliance with the medical center code of conduct and applicable corporate policies and procedures.
- Maintains patient confidentiality and treats patients and families with respect and dignity.
- Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge of Patient equipment use and maintenance.
Basic PC skills required.
Basic computer skills including:
Turn your personal computer on and off.
- Recognize the four major parts of the computer.
- Identify and explain the use of the four parts of the standard keyboard.
- Recognize the mouse and understand how to use it.
- Open a close a program using Windows.
- Recognize and understand the operator panel on a printer.
- Load paper.
EDUCATION AND LICENSURE:
High school diploma or equivalency required.
Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy.
Kentucky state license.
BLS training is required.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Occasionally subjected to irregular hours.
Works in a well lighted business office environment the majority of the time.
May be exposed to contagious disease, infectious diseases, and blood borne diseases.
There is a potential for being at risk of exposure to hazardous chemicals when working. Information regarding hazards and protective measures along with training on handling and storage of hazardous materials will be provided prior to initial assignment to work with hazardous chemicals, whenever the hazard changes, and on an annual basis

Requirements
