The goal of our Content Management & Distribution Data Science and Engineering team is to enable operational and creative excellence in the distribution and promotion of our content. Our work directly contributes to launching high-quality content on our service and helping our members discover content they will love. We conduct analyses, develop models, and build analytical tools to help our partners execute on these primary objectives.

We are looking for an experienced technical leader to manage our algorithms team for and content metadata and merchandising. In this role, you will lead a talented group of machine learning scientists and engineers dedicated to revolutionizing how we understand and promote content. You will partner with our world-class teams of creative practitioners and various cross-functional teams to shape strategy and deliver impact via innovative machine learning and artificial intelligence solutions. What you will do:

• Lead and develop a team of high-performing machine learning scientists and engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, craft excellence, and inclusion.
• Collaborate closely with stakeholders in Product Discovery & Promotion to learn deeply about content distribution, metadata & merchandising
• Oversee the development and integration of innovative solutions that directly empower content analyst workflows, merchandising strategy, and innovative features for our members, as well as connect them to broader use cases across Netflix
• Effectively cultivate strong partnerships with stakeholders and cross-functional partners, serving as both a key thought partner in developing strategic goals while also continuously improving our team’s ability to deliver impact in this domain

Your background and characteristics:

• Advanced degree (MS equivalent or higher) in a quantitative or computational field is preferred
• 3+ years of relevant full-time experience in leading and managing technical teams, with a focus on machine learning and AI innovation
• Strong expertise in multimodal machine learning and generative AI, with a track record of delivering–both as a leader and an individual contributor–fully adopted solutions to (internal or external) partner organizations. Specific experience developing models to understand media content is highly desirable.
• Strong experience partnering with platform teams to enable efficient development and maintenance of ML/AI systems
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with a variety of cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
• A passion for innovation and the potential of working to deliver new capabilities to creative partners
• Enthusiasm about and compatibility with Netflix culture

Our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. To determine your personal top of market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range. The range for this role is $190,000 - $920,000.
