Azenta Life Sciences is looking for a Senior Manager, GENEWIZ Controller responsible for leadership and execution of the divisional accounting function. The GENEWIZ Controller will be instrumental in setting the strategy and direction of the divisional accounting organization and processes. This role includes developing and implementing policies, procedures and driving continuous improvement. The GENEWIZ Controller will report to the Senior Director, CFO of GENEWIZ and oversee the divisional Accounting team and will regularly interact with senior management and cross functional teams. This is a perfect role for a financial leader who will thrive in a dynamic and fast-growing environment. This individual is a motivated self-starter who can lead an end-to-end process, manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment and provide high quality, accurate financial results on a consistent basis.

What You’ll Do…

  • Lead and develop a high performing team of accounting professionals, promoting a culture of continuous improvement
  • Oversee accounting processes for all the entities of GENEWIZ
  • Lead the monthly and quarterly closing activities, ensuring reliable & timely closing of books
  • Preparation and review of reports and analysis in support of internal and external reporting requirements.
  • Ensure all the entities in the segment are compliant with US GAAP, relevant local GAAP, SOX and internal controls.
  • Oversee robust Account reconciliation process that is completed on time.
  • Perform a detailed balance sheet review for the segment, ensure balances are well explained and supported, movement of balances in the accounts are well understood.
  • Ensure timely statutory and local compliance (incl VAT) for all legal entities within the segment, in collaboration with the Corporate Tax and Treasury department.
  • Participate in the ongoing development and establishment of accounting policies and procedures and operational strategies, including the review and implementation of process and system changes.
  • Ensure execution of internal control procedures as per the Company policies, review any control gaps, advise / consult with Finance leadership at both business unit and corporate teams.
  • Liaise with process owners on matters relating to Accounts Payable, Fixed Assets, Accounts Receivable and other general accounting.
  • Support internal and external auditor processes to ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data for the entities within the segment.
  • Be hands on to drive process and system improvements to enable team productivity, accuracy, enhance timeliness and control environment.
  • Collaborate with business partners to provide guidance / insights on accounting processes to drive business growth.
  • Coordinate with Corporate accounting on deployment of new standards, company policies, reporting requirements.
  • Support and advise on any acquisition activity related to the segment, plan and coordinate financial integration activities for acquisitions.
  • Support newly acquired businesses in training/guidance on corporate accounting policies to ensure financial results prepared in accordance with GAAP and internal accounting policies.

What you will Bring…

  • 10+ years in an accounting / finance leadership role within a publicly traded company or public accounting firm
  • CPA is required
  • Extensive knowledge of US GAAP and strong understanding of financial and IT controls and SOX requirements
  • Demonstrated track record of driving process improvements
  • Demonstrated success in dynamic, growth environments with varying business requirements
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including ability to articulate recommendations in a concise manner
  • Demonstrates strategic thinking and leadership capabilities. Ability to assess, organize, plan and execute projects from conceptualization through implementation across multiple internal and external reporting and organizational lines
  • Experience with large-scale ERP System is required. Netsuite/OneStream experience a plus
  • Master’s degree in accounting, finance or an MBA is a plus
  • Prior life sciences experience is a plus

Working Conditions/ Schedule

This position is intended to be on-site, with an expectation of working out of the Company’s South Plainfield, NJ offices four days per week. Travel to other Company sites and events may be required.
