We are seeking a skilled Senior Performance Testing Engineer to join our QEA Team. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical expertise in performance testing tools and methodologies, a keen eye for identifying system bottlenecks, and the ability to work cross-functionally with developers, architects, and business stakeholders.

In this role, you will:

  • Develop performance and test scripts to simulate real world scenarios.
  • Develop performance designs, test strategies and plans. Identify performance bottlenecks across all tiers, components, layers.
  • Analysis and resolution of critical and complex application issues (crashes, hung threads, memory leaks, etc.) and performance tuning based on RCA.
  • Conduct Proof of Concept for engineering and testing tools, and demonstrate feasibility of implementing the solution, with business justifications.
  • Provide detailed performance test reports and recommendations for improvement to project stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with onshore and offshore resources and ensure alignment on priorities.

What you’ll need to succeed (required skills):

  • Overall 10-15 years of hands-on experience in performance testing and engineering.
  • Must have 5+ years of hands-on experience on tools such as JMeter, LoadRunner, Gatling, K6 etc. Have an eye to detail in identifying the pattern, troubleshooting complex performance issues, profiling, finding memory leaks and identifying/actively providing suggestions in fixing them.
  • Strong technical background in performance tuning and optimization of enterprise applications, distributed systems, middleware and sql and no-sql databases.
  • Experience with integrating performance testing / monitoring into CI/CD Pipelines with GitLab.
  • Experience with Chaos testing / engineering tools, such as Gremlin, Litmus, Chaos Monkey, Chaos Toolkit, AWS Fault Injection Service (FIS).
  • Hands on experience of HA and DR simulations.
  • Strong proficiency in any one of Industry standard chaos engineering tools (Chaos Monkey, Chaos Toolkit or Gremlin or Litmus, etc.).
  • Understand the architecture of applications and technology stack to recommend appropriate strategies and ensure the system performance is within defined SLAs.
  • In-depth understanding of distributed systems, microservices architecture, and containerization technologies (such as Docker and Kubernetes).
  • Knowledge of Resiliency design pattern and its best practices – Circuit breaker, Timeout/ Time limit, Retry, Bulkhead, Fall back etc.

Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 3 days a week in a Cognizant or client office in Vancouver location. We regularly assess market data to ensure we offer a competitive compensation package for our associates. The base salary for this position ranges between CAD 90,000 – 110,500 per year. Where the successful candidate may fall within the range depends on relevant education, work and/or management experience and other business-related and job-necessary qualifications. This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual performance-based bonus, as well as benefits that support your physical, mental and financial well-being.
