Exercise Physiologist

The Exercise Physiologist requires the ability to test and evaluate adolescent, adult and geriatric members, assess their abilities under the ACSM guidelines and prescribe an adequate, individualized and progressive exercise program. In addition, they must have the ability to work with patients in cardiac/pulmonary rehabilitation, weight management and other special groups.

  • Bachelors degree in Exercise Physiology/Science required
  • Experience working in wellness centers with fitness testing knowledge and skill
  • Experience in cardiac, pulmonary, and other rehabilitation settings desirable
  • Must be familiar with exercise stress testing, fitness testing and lipid understanding
  • Must maintain a current BLS certification
  • Must be skilled in working with diverse populations
  • Possess the knowledge and skill to design age appropriate exercise programs for adolescents, adults, geriatrics and special needs populations
  • Be able to perform a fitness evaluation/orientation on new members in a timely and professional manner
  • Explain all test results to members and provide appropriate exercise prescription and plan
  • Monitor members until they can exercise safely on their own. Prepare all reports and profiles for member chart data
  • Be able to assist physician with Graded Exercise
  • Be able to prepare patient for test, run technical components of test and be able to read EKG's
  • Assist with Weight management, Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation
  • Have knowledge and understanding of principles related to disease process (i.e. cardiac, pulmonary, diabetes, obesity, orthopedic, etc.)
  • Monitor patients while exercising including but not limited to heart rate, blood pressure, EKG's
  • Follow up and reevaluate members to ensure they are progressing safely and properly
  • Do a six month reevaluation and additional follow up if needed
  • Send membership retention cards when needed
  • Have new members fill our member satisfaction surveys
  • Check equipment daily
  • Report all problems to be replaced or repaired. Repair problems, when possible
  • Clean all equipment on a weekly basis
  • Assume other duties as assigned by the department manager and coordinator

Must be able to work some Saturdays from 8AM - 1pm. Must be able to switch shifts from 9:30-5pm and 10:30-7pm
