GENERAL PURPOSE
Under the supervision of the Director of Network Systems, the Network Technician serves as a member of the team responsible for the administration and maintenance of technology systems and services for Stafford County Public Schools (the “School Division” or “SCPS”).The Network Technician performs key roles in district-level system administration, maintenance of server and network infrastructure, provides technical support for technicians and end users, and assists with the documentation and training of SCPS technology systems.
MAIN JOB TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
System Support
- Act as a systems administrator for key district technology systems including identity management and various endpoint management systems.
- Troubleshoot technology issues, follow-up with affected staff, and coordinate with support vendors as required.
- Perform user account and group administration for on-premises and cloud-based directory services.
- Work as a part of the IT engineering team to manage and maintain the division’s server and network infrastructure.
- Prioritizes, schedules, and responds to work requests in a timely manner.
- Assist in the creation and maintenance of documentation for SCPS technology systems.
- Assist with technician and user training on SCPS technology systems.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or GED
- CompTIA A+ or equivalent experience required
- CompTIA Network+, Linux+, Microsoft Certified Desktop Administrator, Google Workspace Administrator, or other comparable industry certification in network or systems administration required.
- Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in network, device, and/or user system administration

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Work environment is primarily inside and the noise and temperature levels are moderate.
- The work is medium work which requires exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
