Job Summary

RBC’s Global Payments Technology team is on an exciting journey to modernize the way how RBC and Canada will complete digital payments. The future of payments will look much different in coming years and we are just getting started! As Technical Lead, you will have the opportunity to lead a full-stack and cross-functional team that designs, builds and deploys payment applications to cloud environments. Your work will help shape the future of payments at RBC contributing to faster, more resilient and more secure global money movement

Job Description

What will you do?

• Be part of an Agile squad to create new services and applications using the latest technologies that will shape the future of payments for RBC
• Develop high-performance, highly scalable APIs, engines and operations UI used globally
• Ensure high code quality and maintainability through automated tests
• Deploy often and continuously look to experiment, iterate and improve upon processes and code

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

• B.S. degree in Computer Science / related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
• 3+ years of experience with Java and / or JavaScript
• Advanced knowledge and experience with at least one application development framework across the stack (Spring Boot, Angular, etc.)
• Willingness to work across the stack where needed to deliver products
• Experience working within the full professional software development lifecycle including coding standards, code reviews, source code management, build processes, testing and deployments
• Drive and ability to simplify complex problems

Nice-to-have

• Algorithm design and optimization
• RDBMS and/or modern scale-out repositories (MySQL, MongoDB, Redis, etc.)
• Data-centric front-end application development
• Experience building message driven architectures (Kafka)
• Understanding of micro-services architecture, design and implementation (load balancing, discovery, resiliency, etc.)
• Understanding of DevOps / continuous delivery deployment processes
