Job Title: Renewables Operations Manager

Location : Odessa, Texas

Position Summary:

Direct, Plan, and coordinate day to day operations of business unit currently consisting of 15-25 field technicians in and around the Midland/Odessa area. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints, resolving problems, bidding, and estimating, scope development, project management, field visits, quality management, and customer engagement

Responsibilities

Manage

  • Responsible for overall supervision of Renewables Business employees and staff
  • Monitor performance of employees and make improvements when necessary
  • Ensure all department correspondence, communications and processes are satisfactory. Items such as customer approvals, job number requests, vendor/sub approval process, commercial, time tickets, etc
  • Adhere to the company mission, vision, policies and procedures. Lead by example
  • Schedule time to visit our job sites to create manager presence with our customers and employees
  • Consistent monitoring of workload and resources adjusting to achieve balanced workforce.

Safety

  • Communicate regularly with HSE department to achieve all safety goals. Participate in weekly safety meetings and monthly SMT meeting/report
  • Perform job site audits in conjunction with safety team.
  • Establish and institute best practices for employees
  • Establish and institute training matrix for craft positions

Business Development

  • Coordinate with sales to attend customer meetings and lunches,
  • Suggest customer lunch and learns and cook-outs
  • Review weekly sales reports to establish any needed client meetings
  • Establish strong customer relationships with new/existing customers
  • Report on activity weekly during team operations meetings
  • Review all incoming request for bids and outgoing proposals to ensure highest success rate
  • Develop best bidding practices
  • Perform field walkthroughs to develop cost estimates per customer’s request
  • Review and interpret bid packages

Financial

  • Develop and adhere to the departmental budget, manage cost and revenue
  • Complete quarterly board reports and strategic initiatives
  • Consistent review of job CPI to cost control monitoring job performance to achieve accurate gross profit in accordance with all project estimates submitted
  • Review financial statements finding ways to improve profitability.
  • Participate in monthly financial review.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or similar technical discipline; or 5+ years of demonstrated Renewable Energy Operations and Maintenance experience; previous operations management highly preferred
  • 5+ years’ experience in Solar array O&M and installations.
  • Strong knowledge in budgeting, finance and successfully leading a team with the ability to face ever changing markets and workload
  • Demonstrated ability to assemble and lead a technical/operations high performance team with accomplished and demonstrated growth
  • Incorporates tough decisions and enlists support to ensure successful outcomes
  • Concern for people as evidenced by a passion for safety, people development, motivation, and engagement
  • Proficient in using computer-based software such as: Word, Excel, Project, and custom-built systems.
  • Drive for continuous improvement in operational execution including leveraging lessons learned
  • Pro-active; anticipates risk and develops mitigation plans
  • Proven financial acumen and sound business judgment
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiation skill
  • Preferred candidate region spanning from Midland/Odessa TX to Carlsbad NM
