Assistant Adjunct Professor, Department of Physiology and Biophysics

The Department invites applications for a non-senate Assistant Adjunct Professor to participate in research and other academic activities as well as university and public service in an academic medical center environment.
Principal Responsibilities
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with a large group of scientists in the School of Medicine and across the UCI campus as well as the opportunity to develop extramurally funded research programs on the cutting edge and to provide leadership in proteomics research. The Department provides excellent opportunities for research, teaching, mentorship and other academic interest opportunities to medical and graduate students, residents, fellows, and faculty.
Required Qualifications
The successful candidate will hold a Ph.D. degree in Biomedical Sciences, Biochemistry or a related field, and have scientific expertise in biological mass spectrometry and proteomics. The candidate should have extensive research experience in the areas of cross-linking mass spectrometry and protein-protein interactions as well as proteasomal biology.
Additional qualifications that are highly desirable would include experience in maintaining and operating high-end mass spectrometers, developing and applying advanced proteomics technologies, previous experience in supervising graduate students and postdoctoral scholars , and providing mass spectrometry consultation and services to others.
Preferred qualifications include a strong publication record in high-impact journals, expertise in both technological developments and biological and biomedical applications, effective communication, interpersonal, writing skills, and commitment to teaching and mentoring.
