JOB SUMMARY:

This position will support, coordinate and maintain various revenue cycle databases and dictionaries for both internal and vendor applications. This person will be responsible for testing and validating system updates for those supported applications to ensure data integrity and accuracy, as well as, but not limited to, maintaining a comprehensive understanding of the Revenue Cycle process from Registration, to HIM, to Accounts Receivable. Responsible for working help desk tickets as assigned, as well as maintaining appropriate system documentation for those applications.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Works well under stress or tight deadlines and remains flexible to changing systems and processes.
  2. Approaches problems analytically, using good judgment, common sense, and technical knowledge when problem solving.
  3. Updates application databases and dictionaries as needed or as directed by the Revenue Cycle Applications Manager
  4. Ensures testing of all updates/new releases for the applications for which they have responsibility is completed
  5. Documents, communicates and follows-up on all reported problems, enhancement requests, and system change requests.
  6. Works with HIM Director and Manager as needed for assigned applications and needs
  7. Contributes to the productivity and efficient operation of the department through skills transfer, continued professional growth and self-education of new technologies.
  8. Attend meetings as needed to provide assistance to hospital leaders on the use and/or development of assigned applications.
  9. Work with Home Health Care as needed to ensure stable financial systems
  10. Oversee billing issue reconciliation and participate in process changes as needed
  11. Works with other analysts to assure that a consistent approach is followed throughout all clinical and financial applications, including Ambulatory
  12. Works with technical staff to help resolve hardware and network problems impacting assigned applications. Presents unresolved hardware/software problems to Technology Manager for resolution.
  13. Assist in the communication across all impacted areas to ensure effective and efficient goals, scope, progress and completion of continuous improvement projects
  14. Takes equal amounts of after-hours and weekend “call” with other “front call” staff.
  15. Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION REQUIRMENTS AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Education Level:

Bachelors of Science with 3 years of hospital IT experience or

Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Analytics or similar related healthcare field

Experience Requirement:

  • Ability to analyze and interpret common medical coding issues
  • Ability to multi-task independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong problem solving, organizational and decision-making skills
  • Strong understanding of hospital Revenue Cycle operational workflows
  • Strong attention to detail with good analytical skills
  • Must have strong written, verbal and communication skills
  • Must be familiar with hospital billing
  • Knowledge of coding, Accounts Receivables, and Registration
