Purpose of the Role

As part of the Global WFS Defence Solutions, WFSA DG is to develop and deliver Safe, Sustainable, Affordable, and Innovative deployable energy solutions to the ADF that are: tailored, based on proven global know-how; and enable long term corporate opportunities across the Indo pacific.

Now we have an opportunity for a Senior Project Operations Manager with Defence experience to join our business supporting the in service & sustainment of our Commonwealth contracts.

Reporting to the Project Director – Support, the Project Operations Manager is responsible for the successful co-ordination, oversight and delivery of the agreed Commonwealth project deliverables relating to the sustainment program. In addition as the QLD site lead, the Project Operations Manager is responsible for managing the QLD maintenance and warehouse team. The ideal candidate will come from a background managing complex projects or operations in the Defence sector with heavy focus on people leadership, reporting, compliance, customer relationship & stakeholder management.

We are not seeking applicants with a background in the building sector or technical operations outside of a Defence environment.

Work Location: Meadowbrook QLD 4131.

Travel: Infrequent intrastate travel as required.

Key Responsibilities

  • As the QLD warehouse site leader, Oversee the QLD Maintenance and Warehouse facility including maintenance and warehouse staff
  • Manage and lead the key sustainment customer reporting such as regular CDRL deliveries and customised reporting ensuring compliance with the contract
  • Assist in the development and implementation of quality processes and procedures including quality audits and compliance
  • Ensure contractual obligations are met including responding to customer enquiries within the required timeframes and contract KPI’s are met
  • Monitor and report on sub contractors activities and ensure sub contractors deliver within required timelines the body of work compliant to the SOW
  • Assist in the development and ensure the submission of task price services and survey & quote are compliant with the commonwealths requirements
  • Ongoing management of the project cost and schedule, ensuring all necessary project planning activities are captured and identifying and correcting any deviations
  • Manage budgeting and cost management including resource planning
  • Manage and co-ordinate regular Risk, Issues & Opportunity reviews and manage the risks, issues and opportunity register in accordance with Risk Management processes
  • Lead both Customer and governance board reporting as required
  • Liaise with and integrate all internal stakeholders including Engineering, Supply Chain/AIC, Finance, Legal, and Commercial to deliver required project outcomes
  • Liaise with Customer and external stakeholders to execute project delivery, ongoing sustainment plans and manage expectations
  • Apply a commercially astute and strategic mindset when liaising with Customer and key external stakeholders and to project decision-making and problem solving
  • Prepare internal and external reports pertaining to job status and financial performance against agreed budgets and forecasts
  • Support the development and implement operational aspects of additional S&Q work and CCP’s as they relate to sustainment
  • Develop and lead the ongoing maintenance schedule and resource allocation of maintenance and warehouse staff
  • Manage and lead existing and new sustainment projects as required throughout the life cycle of the project

As the Ideal candidate you will have:

  • Significant experience in project management planning, delivery, integration and leadership experience managing complex Defence projects
  • Well-developed understanding of contemporary PM methodologies
  • Proven experience managing projects and resources to complete scope of works on time and within budget
  • Understanding of schedule drivers and influencers and the ability to pull various levers to maintain project and operational baseline
  • Leadership capabilities including the proven ability to motivate, influence, develop and mentor others
  • The ability to research, digest, analyse and present material clearly and concisely
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
