Job Summary

Supports the district's digital communications by editing and maintaining website content, assisting with social media planning and execution, and supporting digital content creation. This position is ideal for a collaborative and creative communicator who is eager to grow in digital communications while supporting public education. Receives assignments from senior team members and collaborates with school-based and department staff.

What you will do

  • Edits and updates district and school websites using a content management system (CMS)
  • Ensures web content is accurate, accessible, and aligned with brand and editorial guidelines
  • Drafts, designs, and schedules engaging content for social media platforms
  • Supports the editorial calendar for social media and monitors engagement metrics
  • Captures or sources photo and video content at school and district events and occasionally writes blog posts about events and notable students and staff members
  • Creates basic video clips and branded graphics for digital channels
  • Tracks analytics for websites and social media, reporting on key trends and opportunities
  • Provides basic technical and content support to school-based digital leads
  • Collaborates with internal teams to support communication campaigns and events

Education Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in communications, journalism, marketing, public relations, or a related field Preferred

Experience Qualifications

  • Prior internship or professional experience in communications, social media, or content production Preferred
  • Please provide 2–3 examples of digital content or writing samples

Skills and Abilities

  • Familiarity with web editing in a CMS (training provided)
  • Basic design skills using tools like Canva or Adobe Spark
  • Proficiency with social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, X/Twitter, YouTube)
  • Strong writing and proofreading skills
  • Basic photo and video editing skills
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational habits
  • A collaborative mindset with a desire to learn and grow

Equivalency

Starting At: $25.49

Salaries are determined by factors relevant to the position which may include education, experience, and other qualifications. Final compensation decisions are made at the discretion of MNPS in alignment with organizational policies and procedures. The stated salary range for certificated teaching positions is calculated based on 201 days and should be viewed as a reference. All provided salary ranges serve as a general guideline.
