The Role
The Senior Manager, Nutrition & Regulatory Compliance will oversee many aspects of Nutrition at FreshDirect, primarily supporting our R&D and Prepared Foods teams with regulatory and labeling needs, but also helping to develop content for our home page and marketing channels. Key areas of responsibility will include providing accurate and current labeling information to both the regulatory agencies and to our customers for all products produced by or repackaged by FreshDirect, providing technical expertise to ensure compliance in all aspects of food product development, and serving as an expert resource for labeling and food based regulatory affairs for FreshDirect personnel. The Senior Manager, Nutrition & Regulatory Compliance will also help with meal and recipe development to satisfy our customers’ nutritional needs.
What You’ll Do
- Ensure food regulatory compliance of products, labels, advertising and promotions for FreshDirect.
- Develop and maintain nutrition and regulatory technical information in specification databases for FreshDirect customers both on package and on the FreshDirect web site.
- Partner with R&D team to provide nutrition and regulatory guidance and ensure compliance during the product development process and throughout the duration of the product life cycle.
- Partner with Site Merchandising and Marketing teams to develop Nutrition-focused content promoting FreshDirect and our assortment to new and existing customers.
- Provide nutrition and regulatory guidance to project teams across all departments to enable accurate decision-making and ensure compliance.
- Review/approve labels and packaging artwork for all private brand products for regulatory compliance and technical accuracy.
- Manage customer inquiries and support nutrition, regulatory and labeling-related corporate requests.
- Maintain knowledge of USDA and FDA guidelines and policies; and stay abreast of nutrition and regulatory developments and identify opportunities and implications to the business.
- Maintain historical and chronological files of all final label approvals and specifications.
- Manage an active auditing program to maintain the integrity and compliance of all labeling information on product labels and the FreshDirect website.

- Keeping current on labeling regulations including, but not limited to, nutritional labeling, allergens, ingredients, health claims and country of origin labeling (“COOL”) requirements.
- Handling labeling changes made necessary by product changes in a timely manner.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Nutrition or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in Regulatory, Nutrition, R&D or Quality with a food company.
- One to three (1-3) years’ experience with nutrition software (Genesis preferred) is required.
- Proficiency with systems, applications & products in data processing (SAP or comparable software), MS Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Extensive knowledge of USDA/FDA regulations and policies across all food categories pertaining to regulatory and label compliance.
- Ability to maintain effective and cordial working relationships while, at the same time, come to resolution/agreement between various departments on FreshDirect objectives and goals.
- Personable with excellent communication skills and the ability to interact with all levels of employees from multiple departments. Must be able to secure agreement from various departments.
- Must be flexible, creative, and extremely attentive to detail. Must excel in completing investigations and drawing conclusions from data.

- The expected compensation for this role is $90,332-$106,273-per year, depending on experience and qualifications. Final compensation will be discussed during the interview process.
