Job Summary:

Under the direct supervision of the and coordination with the Chief Financial Officer, the Director of Decision Support is responsible for management of the Budgeting, Reporting and Cost Accounting systems for the company. The director will act as key consultant to finance and executive leadership. Actively and consistently contributes to department operations and communications, behaves in a manner consistent with the mission, vision, and values of Pipeline Health, upholding standards of AIDET (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, Thank you) patient communication.

Essential Functions:

  • Oversee the decision support systems to include reporting, budget, accounting. Currently uses Axiom Reporting and Budgeting System and Horizon Performance Manager cost accounting system.
  • Lead the development of hospital budget, financial forecasting, contribution margin analysis.
  • Prepare weekly, monthly, and yearly statistical volume and financial management operations reporting.
  • Provide financial and statistical data, reports, analyses, and work files requested for Product Line, Business Development, and Cost Savings projects and opportunities.
  • Ensures clean and accurate data in systems of responsibility.
  • Collaborates with other departments and leaders to ensure data delivery meets needs.
  • Works with HR and/or other departments to ensure data consistent: definitions and calculations are the same throughout the system.
  • Ability to assume a leadership role within projects and work with varying levels and management roles.
  • Uses clear, concise, professional communication with coworkers, patients, all customers internal and external.
  • Uses AIDET in interactions with patients and family members.
  • Acts with a sense of urgency when performing tasks.
  • Basic unit/department maintenance such as keeping files, drawers, cabinets free from unnecessary clutter.
  • Reports on any equipment and or environmental issues for repair.
  • Abides by HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) regulations.
  • Speaks up to stop the line and escalates potential safety events if necessary.
  • Completes and attends monthly training assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Proficient in Microsoft SQL Server Business Intelligence Suite. SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), SQL Server Interface Services (SSIS), intermediate to advanced level Excel and Power BI.
  • Wears nametag properly; follows dress code policy; answers phone correctly and promptly; is prepared for meetings; meets deadlines; does not participate in gossip; acts ethically and treats others with respect; respects customer’s and co-worker’s time; establishes and maintains effective relationships with customers and co-workers.

Qualifications/Experience:

  • Five (5+) years of financial analysis AND decision support experience in an acute care hospital setting.
  • Experience in healthcare reimbursement and net revenue modeling.
  • Strong experience in the development of complex queries, data models and dashboards.
  • Experience with external financial reporting such as Medicare cost report, OSHPD, DSH and QAF.
  • Conducts thorough research and analysis of variances to ensure data accuracy.
  • In-depth knowledge of healthcare finance, revenue cycle, clinical operations, and healthcare data structure.
  • Critical thinking, service excellence and good interpersonal communication skills, ability to read/comprehend written instructions, strong organizational skills, ability to follow verbal instructions, and PC (computer) skills.
  • A capacity to learn, synthesize, make critical judgments, work independently, place patients and families first, and collaborate with the team members who are recognized leaders within health care.

Bachelors or better in Accounting or related field.

Masters or better in Business Administration or related field.
