Position PurposeReporting to the Assistant Dean for Student Life, the Program Director serves on the department’s leadership team and provides strategic and operational support that helps further the mission of the Office of Student Life.

The Program Director supervises the Program Manager, Student Life and develops and implements undergraduate student leadership initiatives, including support for student organization leadership workshops and resource, and creates and manages the leadership certification track. The Program Director also provides support for New Student Programs and New Student Orientation, serves as the campus administrator for DartmouthGroups, and supports broader Student Life programming. The role also assists Student Life leadership with projects as needed.

  • 5 years of professional experience in student affairs administration or equivalent experiences in other appropriate student program administration or closely related field.
  • Awareness of developmental issues of college-age students.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to proficiently manage multiple projects.
  • Demonstrated experience working both independently and collaboratively, and ability to address challenges collaboratively and creatively.
  • Accomplished track record of setting and achieving professional and departmental goals.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, collaboration and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to foster positive and productive relationships with all campus constituencies, including institutional leaders, faculty, staff, students, parents, family members and alumni/ae.
  • Demonstrated cultural competence, and proven ability to meet the needs of a diverse undergraduate population and to promote pluralism and intercultural understanding.
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree.
  • Demonstrated skills in financial and budget management, ability to interpret and prepare departmental budgets and other financial reports.

DescriptionStudent Engagement & Leadership -

  • Coordinates and facilitates leadership development opportunities and other initiatives for undergraduate students and student organizations.
  • Collaborates with other departments on leadership development, student organizational support, and Student Life initiatives.
