Examine patients, obtain medical histories and order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests. Counsel patients about illness, injuries, health conditions, and preventive healthcare. Acts independently, consistently exercises discretion and judgment.
Responsibilities:
- Provides medical care and conducts patient interviews, examinations, diagnosis, and rendering of appropriate medical or surgical treatment.
- Educates patients on wellness, prevention, and early detection through interpersonal communication and/or the provision of informational materials to patients and family members.
- Assesses need for, and as may be clinically indicated, refers patients to additional health care providers for additional specialty care.
- Assesses urgency of patient medical care needs in determining necessary follow-up schedule and/or referral/consultation appointments.
- Exercises sound medical judgment in all issues pertinent to medical diagnosis and treatment on each patient’s behalf.
Required:
- Current Michigan license to practice medicine.
- Obtain and maintain medical staff privileges at appropriate subsidiary hospital(s).
- Board certification in area of specialty, where required.
