Summary:

The Perioperative Resource Nurse is a Registered Nurse who is a member of the surgical services team and will provide patient care as assigned in any of the perioperative areas. Additionally, the perioperative resource nurse may be assigned as a secondary caregiver in SICU to assist in the care of a patient recovering from general anesthesia or a trauma patient transferred to the SICU from the Emergency Department.

Other information:

Previous Experience Required: Must have 2 years of nursing experience in periop, Telemetry, ED or Critical Care services.

Specialized or Technical Education Required: Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing and be currently licensed by the State Board of Nurse Examiners. Membership in a professional organization is encouraged.

Responsibilities:

1. Accepts and functions in a primary care assignment at NOSC, Endoscopy, SDS, PACU, PAT and Cath Lab.

2. Accepts and functions in a primary circulator assignment in the main or surgery center operating room for non-complex procedures.

3. Accepts and functions as a secondary caregiver in the SICU assisting in the care of a post-op or trauma patient.

4. Accepts assignments of short duration potentially working in multiple departments during one shift as acuity and activity dictate.

5. Exemplifies compassion, empathy, accountability, honesty and upholds the philosophy of the nursing profession.

6. Utilizes effective and professional communication with all personnel, physicians, patients, families and visitors.
