PRIMARY PURPOSE: Assists in coordinating the daily operations of all route buses, extra-curricular trips, special education equipment, and personnel involved in transporting students and staff of Irving ISD. Responsible for monitoring and answering radio calls, dispatching buses, answering phones, conveying needed information to drivers, and monitoring traffic using GPS or any other acquired system.

Three [3] years of experience in transportation operations, public school district experience preferred

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Must demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written). Should be able to interpret procedures and analyze data for decision-making; occasional prolonged and irregular hours.
Tools/Equipment Used: Computer, scanner/printer/copier, calculator, two-way radio, telephone, school bus, and safety equipment.
Posture: Prolonged sitting and standing; frequent kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
Motion: Frequent walking; repetitive computer work with frequent use of hands and wrists
Lifting: Regular light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds)
Physical Demands/Environment: Frequent travel of school district bus routes; Occasional prolonged and irregular hours; Prolonged use of computer; Prolonged walking, bending, stooping, ascending and descending bus steps; Exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures
Mental Demands: Effective communication skills (verbal and written); Accurate interpretation of policy and procedures; Strong organizational and interpersonal skills; Responds appropriately in emergencies
Safety: Contribute to the prevention of accidents and injuries by observing safety rules and District policy, practicing the principles and skills taught in safety training, wearing personal protective equipment as required, reporting injuries and incidents immediately to the supervisor, and being proactive in the ongoing efforts to improve and maintain workplace safety.
