Description of Position
Performs checks on utility equipment; boilers, chillers, compressor, vacuum pumps, water pumps, hot water return pumps, hot water temperatures, sump pumps, heat pumps, gas heaters, electrical vaults, and emergency generators. Is also responsible for the upkeep of utility areas and Pneumatic Tube system as assigned. Other duties include basic maintenance, servicing of mechanical, electrical, plumbing and carpentry work. Performs on-the-job training in various aspects of maintenance. Works with general instructions from the Maintenance Lead of various sections, Supervisor, Maintenance, and/or Managing Director, Facilities Management. This position requires working on a rotating shift twenty-four hours a day, 7 days a week. Provides assistance to all of the subsidiaries of the Health System as instructed, and may be asked to service non-related organizations.
Qualifications and Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent required. Graduate of a two (2) year vocational or trade school preferred. Minimum of two (2) years experience in building maintenance or six (6) months as a journeyman in one or more of the building trade crafts such as electricity, plumbing, carpentry, air conditioning, or painting; or any combination of education and experience which would provide the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to meet the minimum qualifications to perform the essential functions of this position.
