Position Title: Customer Engineer Switchgear, BNL

Following Vertiv’s acquisition of the successful E&I Switchgear business, we are integrating E&I's Switchgear Service offerings into the broader Vertiv service portfolio. To support this integration and meet growing customer demands for installation and servicing, we are seeking experienced Field Service Engineers to deliver high-quality, reliable support across the region.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Deliver project site work related to LV switchgear panels, including installation, commissioning, testing, and client handover across multiple projects.
- Diagnose and resolve site issues or breakdowns, including performing necessary repairs.
- Conduct preventative maintenance on all components of LV switchgear panels.
- Prepare tools, test equipment, and documentation required for project and maintenance tasks.
- Coordinate with clients, subcontractors, and internal E&I departments to meet project milestones.
- Work with internal procurement to source materials and resolve project snag lists.
- Manage all site-related documentation and ensure timely completion and upload to client portals.
- Maintain high standards of safety and ensure compliance with all relevant HSE procedures.
- Willingness to undergo security clearances and background checks as required for specific sites.
- Travel to customer sites across a defined geographical area.
- Participate in a rotating on-call schedule as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Essential:
- Minimum 3+ years in a site or client-facing engineering role.
- Recognized qualification in Electrical or Engineering discipline.
- Strong client-facing communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in electrical panel testing, including fault finding.
- Skilled in primary and secondary injection testing.
- Proficient in flash testing procedures.
- Solid understanding of LV switchgear and protection devices.
- Competent in electrical safety and safe isolation practices.
- Experienced in documenting test results accurately.
- Experience with Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT).
- Flexible and willing to work additional hours as needed.
- Full driving license.
- Comfortable with site-based roles and frequent travel.
Desirable:
- Background in Electrical Engineering.
- Proficiency with PC-based software tools.
- HNC/HND or equivalent qualification.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and control systems.
- Troubleshooting experience.
- Time-served or trade-qualified electrical background.
- Previous experience in an electrical service environment.
PHYSICAL & ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS
- Frequent after-hours and weekend work, sometimes at short notice.
- Travel with occasional overnight stays required.
- Ability to lift loads up to 35 kg.
- Participation in a 24/7 on-call rotation.
- Occasional international travel may be required.
- Must wear the provided company uniform during work hours.
- All tools, equipment (including laptop and phone/pager), and training will be provided.
Time Travel Requirement: Approximately 30%
