What you do:

Responsible for leading the investment research function within the broader Capital Markets team through the following activities: (i) conducting in-depth cross-sector investment research to guide portfolio allocations and investment decision-making; (ii) engaging on asset class deep dives and maintaining watch lists for concerned credits; and (iii) periodically updating portfolio play-book for AIM and external stakeholders; additional functions include coaching and mentoring more junior investment research professionals, providing regulatory oversight, and coordinating private assets pledging to FHLB for back-up liquidity support. You will report to the AIM VP – Capital Markets and Sourcing.

• This role serves as the single point of contact on all aspects of Allianz Life general account asset manager management (AMM), working closely with Portfolio Management allocators and Capital Markets sector strategists, Investment Analytics as well as Ops, Legal and other stakeholders
• Leads general account AMM life cycle cross-functionally between AIM Investment Management and Operations
  • Manager selection, onboarding, monitoring & review across SMAs and funds/rated notes
  • Leads and develops holistic approach for manager review:
    • Investment performance incl. direct and implicit fees with focus on purchase yield analysis and attribution and risk assessment
    • Firm/enterprise review (incl. teams, capabilities in sourcing, UW, deal execution and monitoring and workouts)
    • Operational aspects incl. Aladdin and eFront Insights connectivity
    • AM benchmarking & competitive intelligence including support on annual insurance peer reviews
    • Seek global alignment with AIM Global AMM and Private Debt teams
    • Broader asset manager value propositions for AIM and Allianz Life (trainings, visits, speakers, etc.)
• Contributor to processes related to (a) sourcing and investment due diligence process as well as (b) asset manager onboarding on matters outlined (excludes account set-up/custody and fundings as well as strictly technical Aladdin matters)
• Closely partner with AZ Life Legal Team for SMA and fund docs review, minimum requirements & standardization
• Role sits next to Head of Research & Head of Alternatives on AIM Capital Markets & Sourcing Team with broad connectivity across AIM US, Allianz Life and AIM Global communities

What you bring:

• 8+ years of experience: Relevant insurance company investment experience. Strong leadership and excellent verbal and written communication skills (story-telling ability with market and portfolio data).
• Four year degree required: Accounting, Finance, Mathematics, Economics or related technical field.
• Utilization of artificial intelligence tools and resources (e.g. generative AI).
• You must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. and will not require immigration sponsorship for visa status now or in the future (e.g. H1-B, L-1, TN, etc). If you are currently on CPT/OPT, you are ineligible due to the need for future immigration sponsorship.

Base Salary Range: $98,000 - $191,000

Actual base salary may vary based upon factors such as relevant experience, qualifications, internal equity of peers, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual incentive program.
