Director, Platform Architecture
Location: Austin, TX
Meet the Team
Silicon Labs is a global leader in secure, intelligent wireless technology that powers a more connected world. Our Platform Architecture team plays a pivotal role in defining the next generation of scalable compute platforms for IoT edge applications. We transform business needs and market trends into forward-looking product architectures that drive innovation and enable rapid deployment across a broad range of applications.
Responsibilities
As Director of Platform Architecture, you will lead the definition and execution of architectural strategies for high-performance, scalable SoCs tailored to IoT applications. You’ll own end-to-end architectural planning — from initial platform definition to product requirement documentation — and guide cross-functional teams in bringing innovative solutions to market.
- Architect the Future: Define and evolve scalable compute platforms, enabling a broad portfolio of products optimized for performance, power efficiency, and die area.
- AI/ML Edge Strategy: Spearhead architecture and integration of AI/ML capabilities at the edge, delivering complete end-to-end solutions for customers.
- SoC & Compute Expertise:
- Deep knowledge of core compute architecture (ARM cores, AXI/AHB interconnects)
- Proficiency in performance modeling from core to SoC level
- Experience with virtualization, isolation, and system-level boot, power, clock, debug, and security flows
- External memory interface and bandwidth considerations
- Familiarity with PPA (Power, Performance, Area) trade-offs, power and die size estimation
- Competitive Analysis: Lead silicon-level tear-downs and specification benchmarking to identify and quantify architectural differentiators. Translate insights into clear design guidance and go-to-market strategies.
- Product Roadmapping: Define compute platform requirements and align scalable products to key application segments through close collaboration with system and business unit teams.
- Product Requirement Ownership: Develop and maintain detailed Product Requirement Documents (PRDs), converting high-level needs into actionable specifications that guide R&D efforts.
- Cross-Functional Leadership: Collaborate with Business Units, Segment Managers, and R&D architects/designers to ensure alignment across hardware, software, and systems teams.
- Executive Communication: Present complex technical strategies and analyses to executive audiences. Clearly articulate competitive positioning, product strengths, and strategic advantages.
