What The Role Is

The Mortgage Default Operations Specialist will assist with the monitoring of changes in state

and federal regulatory and investor guideline changes. The Default Operations area of default

will coordinate necessary changes in processes and procedures within all four areas of

mortgage default: collections, loss mitigation, bankruptcy and foreclosure. The This role will

include working closely with other default and servicing supervisors and managers to

coordinate audit preparation and responses and handling project coordination, system

enhancement testing, end of year process, process changes, etc.

How You will Make an Impact

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with default audits, initiatives and/or projects and facilitate solutions with various

teams. Including gathering requested documents, compiling reports and completing

research as applicable.

  • Assist in development and improvements in processes, procedures and reporting for

audit preparation.

  • Work with the Default Operations Supervisor on monitoring and updating default

processes and procedures to ensure compliance with State and Federal Regulatory and

Investor Requirements and guidelines.

  • Assist Default Operation Supervisor with preparation of training material and

conducting training when processes or procedures are updated.

  • Maintain an in-depth knowledge of process workflows within each area of default to

assist all areas.

  • Complete Quality Control reviews on areas of default as assigned
  • Complete system testing for all areas during projects, enhancements or as required.
  • Complete vendor reviews to ensure vendors are set up properly for invoices and end of

year processing

  • Complete reconciliation research and adjustments of various general ledger and DDA

outages forwarded from Central Recon Department and/or Accounting to assist in

clearing outages

  • Daily, weekly or monthly portfolio review of counselor codes, flags, alerts, etc.
  • Monitoring property inspection reports to identify vacant properties
  • Handle order and monitoring of necessary property preservation on vacant properties

including requesting over allowables through the GSE/Investor as necessary

  • Responsible for receiving, reviewing, obtaining approval and processing partial releases

on all loans and satisfaction of mortgages on aged paid off loans

  • Processing loss mitigation claims
  • Assist the bankruptcy department during high volume periods
  • Assist the collections department with collection calls, letter preparation or other tasks

as needed during high volume and/or short-staffed periods

  • Receive, review, obtain approval and process default department invoices
  • Creating, updating and maintaining reports, forms, checklists, etc. as needed within the

Default Department

  • Assist the Default Operations Supervisor with end of year preparation, review, testing

and proofing

Who You Are

Education

  • High School Diploma

Experience

  • Mortgage loan default and/or servicing operations experience

Characteristics

  • Experience in assisting with management of multiple projects and processes.
  • Must be able to develop positive relationships with all internal and external business

units and work cooperatively with others.

  • In-depth knowledge of processes of default department
  • Strong interpersonal communication and relationship building skills.
