PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Assist Fixed Asset Accountant with the accurate recording, reconciliation and reporting of the District’s capital and non-capital fixed assets.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Education/Certification:

High School diploma, or equivalent

Associate’s degree in accounting, business or a related field is preferred

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Strong organizational, communication (both oral and written), and interpersonal skills

Ability to prioritize, be flexible and able to adjust easily to changes in daily routine while meeting deadlines

Basic knowledge of the procurement process

Basic math and problem solving skills

Excellent reading and grammatical skills

Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Suite

High level of accuracy and attention to fine details

Ability to work together with other employees as part of a team

Knowledge of high school scheduling practices helpful

Proof of typing >40 WP

Work Conditions:

Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals

Posture: Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting

Motion: Repetitive hand motions including prolonged keyboarding & use of mouse; occasional reaching

Lifting: Occasional lifting and carrying (less than 50 pounds)

Environment: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain professional demeanor under stress; occasional prolonged or irregular hours; frequent in district travel

Regular attendance is an essential function.

Minimum Experience:

Five years of work experience in a general accounting clerical/bookkeeping role or inventory control.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  1. Update and maintain subsidiary fixed asset records to accurately reflect acquisitions, dispositions, intra-District transfers and student or staff assignments.
  2. Affix identifier tags to fixed assets when necessitated.
  3. Participate in periodic physical inventory counts of fixed assets, assist with the reconciliation of counts to the subsidiary fixed asset records and investigate discrepancies.
  4. Respond to fixed asset inquiries from, and provide asset information to administration, campus staff or other departments.
  5. Maintain an accurate filing system for fixed asset related documents (electronic or paper).
  6. Provide general administrative and clerical support within the Fixed Asset and Accounting Departments.
  7. Problem solve and utilize resources to insure completion and accuracy of tasks.
  8. Maintain confidentiality of information.
  9. Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  10. Abide by State and Federal laws, District policies, campus expectations and Texas Educator Code of Ethics.
  11. Perform such other tasks & assume such other responsibilities as may be assigned.
