We are on a journey of continuous growth – now looking for our next star – a passionate Product Safety and Compliance Engineer.
This role, you will be involved in the Product Safety and Compliance (PSC) team to ensure product safety and regulatory Compliance by reviewing, evaluating, and testing products to relevant regulatory and customer requirements; Collaborate with product development team to identify and address product safety and compliance risks. Liaise with internal and external stakeholders on product testing. Communicates results and proposes solutions for non-compliance. Support Sr. PSC Manager to develop and maintain a compliance program for Mobile Cooling Solution.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Product Compliance:
- Works with Sr. Product Safety and Compliance Manager to develop and maintain the product safety and compliance program for MCS regarding product safety and regulatory compliance.
- Develop and maintain product compliance specifications to map out product categories and region-specific regulatory requirements (Americas, Europe, Asia, Pacific, etc.).
- Support global regulatory directives and initiatives, specifically with regards to NSAM, EMEA, and Asia/Pacific Rim for Hardsides, Softsides, Hydrations, Battery, Electronics, Mobile Refrigerators, Thermal Electric Products, IoTs, other consumer products, including regulations:
- PFAS, Proposition 65, Toxics in Packaging Act, CPSIA/CPSC, FDA, CFR, EN, REACH, International labeling laws, RoHS, IEC 62133, EMC, FCC, Food Contact Safe, UN38.3, etc.
- Support product 3rd party lab testing, product certifications, registrations, and markings, including:
- CE, UL, ETL, CSA, FCC, FDA, NOM, DOE, IECEE, NRCan, etc.
- Work with internal and external stakeholders for product testing. Communicates results and proposes solutions for non-compliance.
- Work with a cross-functional team to address nonconformities noted during product testing. Draft and submit CAP for customer’s approvals.
- Track product testing status and ensure timely solutions and communications.
- Lead product safety and compliance (PSC) and lab testing for new product launches globally. Work with all relevant disciplines to develop risk mitigation strategies for new products, ongoing operations, and product changes from a product compliance standpoint.
- Oversees product sustainability from a technical perspective and ensures sustainable materials are justifiable and traceable. Research and provide technical insights to ensure product claims, including Eco claims, are valid.
- Serves as subject matter expert on regulatory matters to ensure that key safety and regulatory compliance requirements are understood by product teams and thereby cost-effectively designed into products.
- Creates, compiles and distributes reports regarding compliance, quality measures and business metrics.
- Oversees development, compilation, filing and maintenance of regulatory document submissions and registrations.
- Ensures that all testing and documentation is performed to applicable agency or other standards, and that documentation is complete and accurate.
- Evaluate vendors' operations and products for compliance with relevant regulatory standards.
- Compiles data for documentation of test procedures and may prepare reports for presentation to management.
- Other duties as assigned.
Product Safety Management:
- Perform product safety risk assessments throughout the product lifecycle, from design to post-market surveillance.
- Develops and conducts tests to evaluate product safety levels and recommends measures to reduce or eliminate hazards that violate regulations.
- Work with internal and external labs on product testing and certification to ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Ensure the product safety management system and its training programs are maintained for employees across departments.
- Collaborate with the Sr. Product Safety and Compliance Manager to investigate and manage product recalls or safety incidents, coordinating with relevant stakeholders.
Quality Assurance:
- As needed, participates in quality improvement project teams to ensure that the organization’s objectives are met

Minimum Requirements and Qualifications
A suitable background would be a solid experience within the following qualifications and experiences:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering, quality, safety, or related field.
- Experience: Five (2) years of directly related experience/training in product safety and quality dealing with regulations and compliance in a global setup.
- English language skills: Able to read, write, speak and comprehend English.
- Math skills: Able to add, subtract, multiply and divide.
- Physical Demands: General office environment.
- Technical expertise related to materials and regulations.
- Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices & procedures.
- Relies on experience & judgment to plan & accomplish goals.
Preferred Qualifications:
- International product compliance experience, especially related to consumer products both domestically manufactured and imported from Asia.
- Working knowledge of EU and UK consumer product standards.
