Position Summary

Reporting to the Executive Director of Development, Major Gifts and Regional Advancement, the Senior Associate Director of Individual Giving is a key contributing member of the Fordham Fund team that helps to grow the University’s giving program, which supports nearly all schools, centers, and units across the University.

The incumbent is charged with identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and closing gift commitments in the $50,000 to $100,000+ range; retaining and increasing giving from existing donors; increasing donors and dollars from President’s Club donors; and meeting the fundraising goals and objectives established for the University. They also work with team members on messaging and outreach around the President’s Club program and help organize small cultivation events to engage and develop annual donors.

Travel and evening/weekend work is required.

Essential Functions

Manages a personal portfolio of approximately 150 prospects comprised of alumni, parents, and friends.

Devises individual engagement strategies for each prospect in their pool with the goal of soliciting annual gifts and/or multi-year gift commitments at the $100,000 level+, with specific solicitation goals to be determined in an annual goal-setting process.

Identifies and helps recruit potential volunteers for any of the following areas: The President’s Club, annual fund, and reunions.

Prepares materials for the prospect solicitation process, which may include: prospect lists; meeting briefings; and proposals.

Utilizes Advance and Fundraising Performance Management systems to record moves, asks, and outcomes, including contact reports, rating and staffing changes, proposals, and gift commitments.

Collaborates with colleagues throughout the Development and University Relations division to ensure effective, efficient, and coordinated fundraising strategies and assists, where needed, in reunions and other important university-wide special events.

Becomes familiar with the tenets of planned giving and identifies opportunities where such vehicles are the most appropriate given prospects’ personal circumstances.

Responds to other special projects that support development objectives.

Required Qualifications: Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree required.

Minimum of five years of experience in development, business, sales, or a related industry.

Demonstrated successful track record in solicitation efforts.

Strong interpersonal skills; confident and comfortable engaging with and soliciting diverse constituencies.

Highly organized and capable of managing multiple tasks under deadlines.

Excellent communication skills.

Experience working effectively in a complex higher education setting, developing and sustaining productive and effective relationships with alumni, donors, faculty, parents, volunteers, colleagues, and senior leadership.

Valid driver’s license required.

Preferred Qualifications

Proficiency in Google Workspace, MS Office, and managing data.

Minimum Starting Salary $95,000

Maximum Starting Salary $115,000

Note Salary is commensurate with qualifications, experience, and skills.
