Job Summary

Join TYLin as the Rail + Transit Sector Manager and lead the expansion of our Rail + Transit business in Canada. This is a rare opportunity to shape and grow an entire technical sector—defining strategy, developing new business, and leading a high-performance team delivering complex transportation solutions across the region.

You will be the face of our Rail + Transit practice in the GTA and beyond—setting direction, driving growth, and positioning TYLin as a market leader in the planning, design, and delivery of transit infrastructure including heavy rail, light rail, BRT, commuter rail, and transit facilities.

This is a high-impact leadership role, ideally suited to a senior professional with strong local market presence, a proven record of winning and delivering major transit projects, and a passion for mentoring teams and shaping the future of transportation.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Key Focus & Responsibilities:

Strategic Growth & Business Development

  • Lead the development and execution of the Rail + Transit business strategy in Canada, with a primary focus on the GTA and Ontario.
  • Identify, pursue, and secure high-value transit projects and strategic partnerships.
  • Represent the company in industry forums, client meetings, and partner engagements to build brand and visibility in the transit sector.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership and business line directors on growth targets, investment strategies, and market positioning.

Technical & Project Leadership

  • Provide oversight and senior technical input on major rail/transit proposals and projects.
  • Serve as a Project Director or senior technical advisor on high-profile assignments, ensuring excellence in delivery and innovation.
  • Lead or support complex pursuits, bringing strong capture planning, pricing strategy, and client insights to bear.

Team & Sector Development

  • Build, mentor, and lead a growing team of engineers, planners, and project managers focused on transit and rail infrastructure.
  • Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performance culture aligned with TYLin company values and commitment to technical excellence.
  • Identify resource needs and coordinate with recruitment teams to attract top talent.

Client & Market Engagement

  • Serve as a trusted advisor and Client Manager to key transit agencies, municipalities, and infrastructure partners.
  • Maintain and grow long-term relationships with clients by understanding their challenges and positioning TYLin as a trusted delivery partner.
  • Track industry trends, funding programs, and emerging opportunities to keep the sector agile and responsive.

What You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Registered P.Eng. in Ontario is preferred.
  • Minimum 15 years of progressive experience in the transportation industry, with at least 5 years in a leadership or market-facing role.
  • Deep understanding of the transit market in Ontario, including Metrolinx, TTC, municipal clients, and major contractors and consultants.
  • Demonstrated ability to win, lead, and deliver large-scale, multidisciplinary rail/transit projects.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills with the ability to influence across all levels of an organization.
  • Active involvement in relevant industry organizations (e.g., AREMA, TRC, CUTA, TAC, etc.).
  • Proven ability to lead diverse teams and drive business results while upholding the highest standards of quality and integrity.
