Summary

  • GENERAL SUMMARY
    • The Lab Systems Facilitator - Urgent Care is responsible for following established policies and procedures. This position is accountable for a variety of duties such as providing clerical support for Laboratory services, specimen procurement, and inventory management. Reports to department leadership.
  • ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Collects and prepares of specimens for laboratory analysis.
    • Accurately orders, processes, and disposes of specimens.
    • Collects nasal pharyngeal (NP) samples.
    • Collects and documents of vital signs.
    • Performs kit/waived testing (Flu and Rapid Strep).
    • Responsible for Inventory management.
    • Maintains a safe and clean work environment.
    • Provides clerical and office support by answering phones and filing.
    • Maintains appropriate documentation.
    • Travels to other centers as assigned.
    • Cleaning and stocking of exam rooms.
    • Actively participates in Urgent Care clinic when not performing laboratory duties.
    • Performs all other duties as assigned
  • LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS
    • Required Licenses and/or Certifications
      • None required.
    • Preferred Licenses and/or Certifications
      • American Society of Clinical Pathologist (ASCP) certification in Phlebotomy preferred.
  • MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
    • Required Education and Experience
      • High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
      • Three or more months experience in a Laboratory setting; as well as an understanding of departmental policies and procedures required.
      • At time of hire, a record of completion for all education, licenses, training and/or certifications is required.
      • Continuous certification and/or maintenance of state licensures, certifications, training, educational and application requirements is required during employment.
    • Preferred Education and Experience
      • None preferred.
    • Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
      • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of Medical Terminology and have proven phlebotomy skills.
      • Possess basic computer knowledge for the registration of patient demographics, test order entry and result retrieval.
      • Highly motivated, enthusiastic, and empathetic team player who takes initiative.
      • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
      • Excellent time management skills, able to shift priorities and able to work independently and problem solve in a fast paced, fluid environment.
      • Possesses strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills as well as, the ability to interact with and build collegial relationships with diverse individuals.
      • Demonstrates skills necessary to effectively communicate clinical data to physicians and other health care providers.
  • WORKING CONDITIONS
    • Normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, temperature and the like.
