Postdoctoral Researcher (Wireless Institute and SpectrumX)

University of Notre Dame

Job Description

Postdoctoral Research Associate

A Postdoctoral research position at the University of Notre Dame (ND) is open beginning May 2025 to conduct research under the supervision of Prof. Nick Laneman and collaborating with other leading faculty in the ND Wireless Institute and SpectrumX, the NSF Spectrum Innovation Center.

The primary project will involve developing system models for radio frequency spectrum allocation, coexistence techniques, and dynamic spectrum sharing approaches that integrate technical, economic, and regulatory aspects into a common framework or “taxonomy.” This taxonomy will be used by stakeholders in industry and government to quickly narrow options and flesh out solutions for future spectrum management needs. Expertise in several areas among the following is desired: radio system modeling, transceiver hardware design, algorithm design and simulation, interference analysis, spectrum auctions and markets, property rights, and institutional design for common pool resources.

The duration of the Fellowship is for up to two years, with annual renewal. Though not required, U.S. citizenship and the ability to manage Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) are strongly desired.

If you have received your PhD and are interested in learning more about this opportunity, please apply by emailing your resume to wireless@nd.edu.
