Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit

The Project Manager will report through Information Technology Services (ITS) but will be dedicated to supporting the needs of Enrollment Management and Academic Affairs (EM & AAF). This position will be focused on managing EM & AAF’s pipeline of key business and IT initiatives to help ensure that work gets properly prioritized, resourced, and completed on time and within budget. This position will work collaboratively with a cross-functional team to help ensure that the technology needs of EM & AAF are met.

Position Summary

The Project Manager will be responsible for leading complex multi-disciplinary projects to deliver solutions that achieve the stated business objectives outlined in the project charter. This position will have overall responsibility for managing scope, cost, schedule, and deliverables, which includes applying techniques for planning, tracking, change control, and risk management. The project manager will provide day-to-day direction to a cross-functional project team and regular project status updates to EM & AAF and ITS leadership

Minimum Qualifications

Mid to late career with Master’s degree and 2-4 yrs experience; or Bachelor’s degree and 3-5 yrs experience; or equivalent combination of education/experience.

Additional Required Certifications, Licensures, and Certificates

Preferred Qualifications

  • PMP or equivalent certification.
  • Experience with being a Technical PM Team lead.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications, especially Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and with ServiceNow.
  • 7-10 years of experience in project management.
  • Experience supporting enterprise-level academic affairs and enrollment management operations.
  • Experience with project management methodology and frameworks.
  • Experience with managing cross-functional teams that support enterprise-wide capabilities.
  • Experience with receiving and analyzing information, formulating work plans, preparing written material, and articulating goals and action plans.
  • Experience with managing multiple project streams.
  • Experience influencing and inspiring people to work toward a common goal by exhibiting positive leadership qualities.
  • Effective listening and communication skills across executive, mid-level management, and business area teams.

Key Responsibility

Defining and documenting the project plan, including requirements analysis, scope definition, resource planning, schedule managing milestone/deliverable targets, risks, and project closure.

Essential Tasks

  • Works effectively with EM & AAF and ITS stakeholders to confirm project requirements, define the project scope, plan for resources, schedule milestone/deliverable targets, and proactively identify project risks.
  • Develops appropriate project artifacts including schedule, resource plan, and communication plans using defined tools and methodologies.
  • Identifies and manages the triple constraint of time, scope, and cost and report as appropriate.
  • Identifies potential changes in project scope, issues and risks and devises contingency plans.

Manage project execution to ensure deliverables are completed on time, within budget, and at the expected level of quality, driving all documentation, managing issues and change management processes, procuring and assigning resources to project tasks, coordinating communication across teams, and conducting work quality meetings.
