The Mobile Stroke Treatment Unit Registered Nurse is responsible for identifying the patient's alterations in health, assessing the patient's human response to actual and potential health problems, implementing nursing interventions based on theoretical concepts from nursing and other arts and sciences to achieve outcomes for the patient that facilitate resolution of alterations in health and actual and potential health problems, determining the effectiveness of nursing interventions by evaluating anticipated patient outcomes as needed to achieve optimal patient outcomes. The Mobile Stroke Treatment Unit Registered Nurse is responsible for assessment, triage, treatment and evaluation of critical pre-hospital patients during transport by the Mobile Stroke Treatment Unit (MSTU). Whenever possible, the patient, the family or those significant to the patient are an integral part of the assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation efforts of the Registered Nurse (RN).
The RN must be able to function autonomously utilizing medical protocols and advanced skills under the direction of the medical director. The RN is responsible to assign/delegate care to other qualified members of the health care team. The RN coordinates care between other professional disciplines as needed.

Required Education:
Associate's degree:
Specific course work: (If applicable): Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
New hires effective June 14, 2017, must have a BSN degree from an accredited school of nursing within three (3) years of hire or transfer into the position. New hires or transfers into in the position between August 1, 2013 and June 13, 2017 must abide with the conditions in his or her offer letter and the verbiage in the job description signed upon hire or transfer into the position. Current employees who were hired or transferred into the position prior to August 1, 2013 will be grandfathered.

BSN
Required Licensure/Certifications:
Licensed to practice nursing in the state of Florida
BLS from the American Heart Association
ACLS from the American Heart Association
Preferred Licensure/Certifications:
SCRN or CNRN
Required Experience:
3-5 years Cerebrovascular nursing experience as a Registered Nurse
Preferred Experience:
Over 5 years of Emergency Room experience
Necessary Skills:
1. Demonstrates teamwork and communicates in a professional manner with all members of the healthcare team.
2. Demonstrates the ability to learn and apply computer technologies and procedures that affect patient care delivery.
