The Systems Administrator I maintains and manages server computing and storage platforms, including, but not limited to, installation, configuration, preventive maintenance, operation, and problem-resolution activities. The Systems Administrator I works closely with the SCCM team regarding client inventories, client health, software advertisement, OS deployment and patching.
Duties and responsibilities, as they align with Ryan’s Key Results
People:
- Performs on-call duties on a rotational basis.
Client:
- Proactively monitors the health of all SCCM clients.
- Assists in governing the patching process for both servers and client PC’s.
Value:
- Maintains computer security.
- Creates, updates, and maintains process documentation as required.
- Creates, schedules, and provides reporting from SCCM, as necessary.
- Creates or modifies software advertisements, as necessary.
- The authors targeted communications for pending changes or emergency notifications.
- Maintains and supports infrastructure applications supporting fax, voicemail, and collaboration.
- Request quotes and provide order justification for new hardware and software purchases.
- Proactively monitors and supports all system equipment and software to ensure high availability, including: servers, tape backups, UPS, and printers.
- Maintains and supports various Ryan applications, OS hardening, virus management services, and server clustering.
- Maintains servers, storage systems, and tape backup systems with current BIOS/firmware.
- Maintains server asset inventory and appropriate documentation.
- Contributes to efficiency improvements through process automation.
- Assists with projects as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- Degree in Computer Science / Information Technology or other relevant fields.
- One to three years of related systems administrator experience.
Computer Skills:
- To perform this job successfully, an individual must have intermediate knowledge of the Microsoft® Office core applications (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
- The individual should have intermediate knowledge of Microsoft® Operating Systems, Internet navigation, and research.
- Basic to intermediate knowledge of systems administration tools, scripting, and automation tools is also required.
Certificates and Licenses:
- Windows Client/Server Operating System or Active Directory Certifications are beneficial, but not required.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
