Description

This individual is responsible for the supervision of the Provider Coding Department. A person with a thorough knowledge of coding guidelines and reimbursement methodologies whom possess leadership, communication and organizational skills. Should be able to direct coding staff to ensure timely and accurate coded medical records and be instrumental in assuring coding compliance with all state and federal regulations. This individual in coordination with the BMH Director of Coding Services will supervise, monitor and measure employee performance and productivity, facilitate meetings, coordinate employee training, initiate disciplinary action and openly communicate with the Revenue Cycle Director.

Position Requirements

EDUCATION:

  • A two to four year degree in related filed or experience as stipulated is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of inpatient and outpatient coding guidelines essential.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Three to five years in a healthcare facility or multi-specialty physician group with demonstrated success in developing, implementing and managing high quality medical coding services.

JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Thorough knowledge of all inpatient and outpatient coding conventions, guidelines and state and federal regulations. Proficient with coding and abstracting

CERTIFICATIONS/ LICENSES:

  • Must possess two of the following coding certifications: RHIA, RHIT, CCS, COC, CPC, CPC-I or related certification preferred. A candidate with at least 5 years of coding experience and one certification, who is willing to achieve a second certification within 18 months of hire would be considered.
