Sr. Manager, Global Process Safety Management

Summary:

Reporting to the Vice President, EHS & QMS, this strategic and highly visible leadership role will be responsible for team leadership and technical execution of varied high value responsibilities globally including but not limited to: Process Safety Management Programs, technical capability development, Fire prevention programs and activities, PSM audits, Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), standards development, RCCA, quantitative/qualitative risk assessment, etc. This individual will be a team lead and technical expert, providing specific guidance on technical matters across the globe via strong multi-function collaboration. This position collaborates closely with global operations, site leaders, engineering and maintenance, and the EHS organization to proactively reduce & eliminate risks and enhance our global risk profile across Momentive. The Sr. Manager, Global PSM is responsible for providing visionary leadership to effectively reduce and manage Process Safety risk.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Responsible for leading and fostering a high-functioning cohesive team of PSM Leaders, and providing coaching & mentorship of site PSM Leaders and site engineers engaged in PHAs
  • Leads, optimizes, and standardizes Process Safety Management initiatives globally
  • Leadership of cross-site, global, engineering team focused on establishing & enhancing PSM Best Practices and Momentive Standards
  • Accountable for the execution of PSM goals and objectives as part of the overall EHS Strategy for Momentive. Establish operating policies and procedures that enable the above.
  • Foster a motivated and engaged team through continuous communication
  • Strengthen the talent pipeline for Process Safety Professionals globally. Lead, coach, and mentor others in subject matter expertise including but not limited to: standards development & implementation, process hazard analysis (PHA), layers of protection analysis (LOPA), mechanical integrity, fire prevention, high risk safety activities, auditing, and incident investigation. Provide in-person, in-depth support to assist with organizational skills development.
  • Evaluate and establish goals to control key PSM and emergency preparedness risks, including fire prevention
  • Lead specialized initiatives to support implementation of Momentive’s global EHS strategy.
  • Develop and/or support specific EHS-Management System standards.
  • Lead and conduct PSM and EHS audits, and engage to support associated outcomes & action items
  • Develop, track, and evaluate PSM metrics to identify trends and drive improvement
  • Construct cost-effective program approaches to PSM activities and initiatives. Participate in the capital planning process for PSM related projects.
  • Partner with maintenance and engineering to develop and implement robust Mechanical Integrity programs
  • Establish routine communications with key EHS and business leaders to ensure current PSM best practices are shared
  • Support PHA/LOPA Facilitator Qualification and Cause Map Facilitator programs.
  • Understand and analyze findings (i.e. related to audits, incidents, etc.) to identify common issues and facilitate consistency in recommendations and corrective action. Conduct incident investigation, as needed.
  • Develop programs and train company personnel to support PSM activities
  • Provide oversight and technical support for Management of Change and Pre-Startup Safety Reviews
  • Monitor and communicate emerging issues and developing regulations
  • Completes other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

The following are required for the role

  • BS Degree in relevant technical discipline such as Chemical Engineering
  • 5+ years of implementation of Process Safety methodologies (PHA/HAZOP, LOPA, etc.)
  • 5+ years of experience in EHS/PSM auditing
  • 10+ years of experience in chemical/industrial environment required. This role must a have a mature and experienced leader to be successful. The leader must have delivered sustainable results in improving PSM in their career.
  • Strong incident investigation skills
  • Strong project management and leadership skills, including the ability to prioritize, balance and manage multiple tasks simultaneously, adjust to changing priorities and make decisions with speed and accuracy based on available information.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, technical writing, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, team player, capable of working within globally diverse, cross-functional, internal and external teams across different time zones with ability to effectively influence others to action.
  • Ability to collaborate in a global organization, communicate effectively across mediums, audiences and situations.
  • Unquestioned ethics and integrity including the ability to work on confidential matters.
  • Proven experience consulting and troubleshooting to allow development of sound resolution of issues.
  • Strong Computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
  • Demonstrated capability to take initiative, drive change, and learn new skills

The following are preferred for this role

  • Cause Map Facilitator training and certification
  • 10+ years of process engineering experience
  • Lead EHS/PSM Auditor
  • 10+ years’ experience EHS/PSM auditing
  • Experience in developing and delivering EHS/PSM training using Adult Learning Theory

Additionally, the role demands good hand-eye coordination, visual acuity, and fine motor skills for tasks like using a computer, operating equipment, and reading technical information.
  • This position is primarily performed in an office setting. The work environment involves typical office conditions, including exposure to noise from office equipment and electronic devices. What We Offer:

Base Pay Range: $137,000 - $200,750

The actual salary offered is determined by factors including but not limited to education, experience, skill sets, and geography. Local geographic pay differentials may not be reflected in the above pay range and will be discussed with you by a member of the HR team when applicable. Additionally, this role is eligible for incentive or sales variable compensation payments. The amount of these incentives is based on the terms of the Company's incentive plans, the Company's financial performance, and/or individual employee job performance.
