About the role
The Guardian is seeking a creative, entrepreneurial editor with flair, vision and discerning taste to launch and lead the Filter US. This new digital consumer vertical aims to inform and inspire readers to make smart, sustainable buying decisions, and complements the existing UK-focused Filter. The editor will play a central role in hiring a small team, developing a launch strategy and overseeing a robust publishing schedule, which will be informed by both editorial judgment and audience/SEO data. It will include multiple articles per week as well as a newsletter.
The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable about shopping, product reviews and service journalism and have strong ideas for developing a unique editorial identity for the Filter US that is consistent with Guardian values. We will consider editors with a range of feature and lifestyle coverage backgrounds, but experience with affiliate marketing, audience growth strategy and new product launches is strongly preferred. This editor will work with colleagues across the organization–including audience development, marketing, finance, communications and sales to build the Filter US into a strong brand in the US.
